I think the words Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End trailer about sum it up.
Let me make something clear. I am not a PotC fan. I liked it well enough, but it didn't grab me by the throat and shake me around the way it did a lot of people. The main characters don't do much for me (I like Will. Theoretically, I like Jack. Elizabeth kind of creeps me out). Norrington is my favorite character, and I'm still not sure about what they did with him in PotC 2. I like the snark, but I always like the snark. I think it would make a better TV series than movie trilogy, but that ain't happening. (I think everything would be better on TV, because oh my God, character development and plot arcs over a long period of time. This is why I'm excited about a possible Star Wars live action TV series.) It's not that I don't like pirate movies, because I do. I do, however, like Cutthroat Island better than I like Pirates of the Caribbean, which puts me in the minority of the world. I'm curious about what they're doing in PotC 3, though.
*crosses fingers* Oh, God, please redeem Norrington. At least we know he shows up and exchanges snark with Sparrow, that's a plus.
