Tomorrow I have a band competition. My band cannot play our pieces. A fire alarm went off today just as school got out, which meant most of the school was waiting out in the parking lot while the firemen went through the school. Also, spring sports practice started today, so some people were dressed, some weren't, and it was just generally delayed (I'm not doing sports). The band may or may not be going to the state basketball tournament with the basketball teams.
Oh, yes, both our varsity basketball teams made state. HOW COOL IS THAT? This is the first year ever that both the boys and girls varsity squads have made state. AND the boys varsity squad got the 3A state academic award, with an average GPA of 3.75 -- the highest collective GPA in five years. AND one of our wrestlers got the academic award for his weight class. AND our boys swim team made it to state and got third place (in-joke. We don't have a boys swim team. We only have one boy swimmer and he swims with West Valley for Ellensburg). AND one of our wrestlers got sixth at state. AND our BD got YVMEA Music Educator of the Year.
On the other hand, the EHS symphonic band is totally going to disgrace Ellensburg High School and they're going to take our band shirts and throw us out.
Argh.
