because some things have to be remembered for posterity

The first D/Hr ficlet I ever wrote. (Scroll down; it's the one by -- oh God, shoot me now -- Keisha Black-Malfoy.)

Oh, wait, no there's earlier. Here. (Also Keisha Black-Malfoy, as a guest.)

But wait, there's more!

Okay, for the record, let's note that I was twelve.

We've all had these moments my darling. I think your fine as long as you recognize how ... uh .... purple prose you were back then.

I know I can confidently say I've improved.

I hadn't discovered fanfic when I was twelve (if I had, my first fandom probably would've been Lois and Clark... which is hide-in-the-corner-worthy all by itself) and I don't think the internet had been invented. Well, no, it probably had been, but I didn't know what it was. But I can confidently say that that's better than what I was writing at 12.

That said: Keisha Black-Malfoy! You're so cute. *G*

This would be the corner. This would be me hiding in it.

I think I was actually eleven when I discovered fandom. Ah, back in the days when the HP fandom was...well, I guess HP is still the jumping off point for a lot of people. Back in the days before the fifth book came out, the great hiatus...*reminisces*

Role-playing was my gateway drug. RPing and the X-Men movie were responsible for me discovering fanfic. It was all downhill from there. (No, seriously: next was Lotrips... *G*) I probably started reading the HP books around the time of this great hiatus of which you speak, curious to discover what all the fuss was about. But I didn't get interested in the fandom until well after the movies started appearing. That was all Tom Felton's fault. *G*

I think I got in right after the first movie came out; I had one of those "oooh, shiny!" moments and went to Google. The first fic I read was also one of the first D/Hr fics ever written, so I apparently had one of those duckling impression moments or whatever -- you know, where the first thing the duckling sees better be its mother, or it's going to follow it everywhere anyway. I got into slash a good bit later.
