You know what's weird? Googling your professors, and discovering that they're quite well-known and respected in and outside of their fields. Also that they have their own Wikipedia pages.

Heh. Something else fun? Finding a post on Booksmugglers where they review your professor's YA fantasy/horror novel. (Okay, she's not my professor, but I've met her several times, and she's my suitemate's creative writing prof.)
