Apparently, Tulane turns into a police state over Mardi Gras.

...should I be afraid of how crazy New Orleans is going to be this coming week?

(Really, bets that this is somehow going to come up in Dust? PRETTY GOOD.)

ARGH FIRE ALARM. This was, like, the third one in a week!

I hit 'police state' in your first sentence and totally knew that you were going to mention Dust somewhere in the remaining message. :)

There is a pretty good chance that Dust is going to come up no matter what I write. I could be writing about puppies and kittens and rainbows and Dust would still come up! I stand in the bookstore and look at books and say, "Hey, I want to put an igloo in Dust, oh, wait, can't, it's spring."

Oh God.

Well, at least this will be an experience my friends going to college in Buttfuck, Montana, won't have...

Ooh. Do share some of the zany police state measures that Tulane takes.

For students: must have Tulane ID on them at all times. Must swipe into all dorms at all times, not just the regular eight pm to eight am. If you don't have your ID on you, you can be escorted off campus. If you're not a Tulane student, you have to have a Tulane-issued wristband to be on campus, and to get a wristband, you have to be sponsored by a student. It's free if you're a parent, but if you're a friend coming in from out of town, you have to pay, and each student can only sponsor two people (that aren't parents).
