I'm so glad to see that my ability to come up with random plots off the top of my head has returned

...I actually have a totally reasonable plot for a BSG/Dollhouse crossover. This is kind of terrifying. Since you canonically have a character in BSG for whom a reasonable enterprise is, "Let me mindwipe and implant false memories in people I don't like and plop them down in the middle of society while I destroy the world around them muahahahahaha!" And then in Dollhouse you have canonical mindwipes! So I have a plot. Or, well, at least a scenario.

Agent Ballard gets a new partner, an agent named Athena Valerii, which he reacts to either with "Oh, the FBI is finally taking me seriously!" or "She's here to find some reason to actually kick me out of the FBI!" Then there is an ~incident where he's nearly killed, and Athena grabs him and takes him to a safehouse, where Starbuck and Anders and possibly Tigh (maybe someone else too, I dunno) are waiting with Alpha, and they try to explain what's happened: Cavil captured them, found the way to Earth, and did with them what he'd done with the Final Five the first time 'round. He's got some plan, but they don't know what it is: they only know they have to stop and they think he's somewhere high up in the Dollhouse chain of command. The Dollhouse tech is Cylon-inspired. They think that the last of the Colonials on Earth is Helo (the rest of the Fleet is still in space; they've been missing for a few years now), and they're going to break through the mindwipe, which is why Alpha's here with his chair.

Even to crazy Paul Ballard this doesn't sound entirely reasonable, but they stick him in the chair anyway and -- it works. And he wakes up Karl Agathon.

And then they have to go back to working the conspiracy angle, which Helo and Athena can do from their position in the FBI and the other three can do from not the FBI, with Alpha's help. They need to find Cavil, figure out what his plan is, stop him, and find a way to get back to the Fleet. Presumably there is more Dollhouse-y plot in here, but I don't care enough about the Dollhouse to figure out anything more elaborate yet, or what Cavil's angle is.

Obviously there is a scene where Melly sees Ballard and Athena together and is Very Confuzzled. (And yeah, I know she's a doll; I'm not up to that point yet in my rewatch but I vaguely remember it from the first go 'round. This would go AU in season one of Dollhouse and probably S4 of BSG.)

Terrible idea or one that has promise? It is going in my folder of BSG AUs to noodle with alongside the BSG/Eureka crossover, the fairy tale-ish story where Hera grew up with the Cylons, and the one where Helo and Sharon are captured on Caprica and Sharon and Boomer team up to save him.
