"We should leave as soon as possible, then," Will said and turned to go.

Tia Dalma's voice stopped him dead. "Sweet Will."

He turned back slowly.

She beckoned with one hand. "Come to me, sweet Will," she said and he went to her, ignoring all the eyes on him. "I have something for you."

"Do you?" he said, hearing his voice as if through water, distorted and muffled.

Tia Dalma held up her other hand, iron chain falling to dangle some kind of small charm that gleamed silver in the dull light -- Will had a sudden sense of deja vu, of another necklace and another charm, this one golden and bloody. He reached out for it, but Tia Dalma held her hand back. "You pay me first."

Will's hand went automatically to his belt, but he had nothing, only the clothes on his back and his sword. His father's knife. No coin. No undead monkey, either. "What do you want?"

Tia Dalma held up one finger. "A kiss," she said. "Just one."

"That's --" Elizabeth began indignantly in the background, but she didn't finish the thought. Will lowered his head obediently to Tia Dalma's upturned mouth, tasting something strangely sweet on her lips.

She patted him on the cheek when she was done. "Sweet Will," she said and he bent his head again, letting her slip the chain around his neck. A slight tingle ran over his skin as soon as the charm settled against his chest.

"Thank you," Will said with some difficulty.

"You take care of them, Will Turner," she said, standing back. "You take care of them all."

That -- woman closed her hand around Elizabeth's arm as she was almost out the door. "He won't touch you again, pretty girl," she said, and let go with a jerk that hurt, her fingernails scraping through the fabric. "You go now."
