Someone just asked me for fic in relation to a story I abandoned an age and a half ago. This should probably go on the list of things that break my brain. That's, like, two or three fandoms ago, and about three years (I am pretty sure the comment was on a fic I wrote freshman year. OF HIGH SCHOOL.

Ahem. I am writing Peter utterly fucking exhausted, which kind of has the adverse effect of making me feel kind of sluggish as well.

ETA: The Peter/Susan "subtext" in this chapter is absolutely friggin' ridiculous. Lass, you will love it.

I've been really stressed for the past week or so -- I couldn't quite figure out why, until it hit me yesterday. (At Creative Writing Club. Go figure.) It's the college thing. No, really, go figure. And I won't go into it, because it's been all over my journal for the past week, but God, that explains so much. *twitches* Plus, you know, the next two months are really busy for -- well, everyone, but especially seniors. Band competitions, job shadow (at the AFROTC detachment at CWU!), various senior crap, senior project presentations (which they changed again, omgwtf), more senior crap, having to, I don't know, figure out where to go to college...

Television roundup, or, thank you God (also, spoilers) )

Tomorrow is going to be the day from hell. Jazz band, school, Creative Writing Club (we're critiquing my work today!), practice with my accompanist for Solo Ensemble (which is the day after tomorrow, by the way), pick up the pizzas for concessions, run concessions for the girls game, pep band, home, shower, Numb3rs, sleep. Wake up Saturday morning, go to the Music Building, warm up, play my Hindemith sonata, go home, fall over, go back to the Music Building, warm up, play my Rueff piece, go home, fall over, work on novel.

Oh, yes, have I mentioned? I now have to have my novel done by the beginning of March. God damn it. I have to go back to thinking in present time; I've been doing flashbacks for the past month, so I have a really clear idea of the past but no idea at all what's going on now.

On the other hand, the compulsive list-making is at least making me very, very organized.

ETA: Vid rec: All Good Things (Come to an End). The CSI:NY team and their personal tragedies. Let me put it this way: it started out with Aiden, and I teared up, because oh my God, Aiden. I forget how much I liked her. Seriously, if you call yourself a CSI:NY fan, you should watch this, like, now.

And another one: Heroes, to "How to Save a Life" -- on the episode "Heroes." Oh, Aiden. May you never be forgotten.

Guys, someone has vidded Flack to "Holding Out For A Hero" and I have no idea to react to this. I had no idea there was so much Flack in the world!

Also, huh, I guess his hair was pretty silly back in S1, huh?

And "Mambo Italiano."

And "High School Never Ends." Actually, that one's pretty good. Funny, too.

And Danny and Flack to "On Top of You" (NO I KID YOU NOT). Not bad, but loses points for using the same clips multiple times.

Also, it looks like I just knocked up Danny Messer. Dani Messer, that is. *facepalm* Just...take me away from the computer before I do any real harm. (Yep, looks like the first fic of the year's gonna be genderfuck. Oh God.)
bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (new york city (inyourpants_))
So, I missed this show. I mean, I watch a lot of TV now -- a lot; it's kind of my default background noise for writing -- but CSI:NY was my first, and in a lot of ways it's still my baby. I mean, I wrote my first novel-lengths for this. I know the characters. They're my boys and my girls; they still are, even after three, four years. And I missed them.

I didn't really realize that until tonight.

Also, man, I should keep a running tally of how many times I get jossed in a single episode. Man! Uh, looks like there are spoilers after all, but very small ones )

(Also, I'm having Flack flashbacks to "The Fall" -- back in S1, ya know? Anyone else want to back me up?)

One of the best moments of the night? CBS's commercial for Dexter: "If Mac Taylor of CSI:NY took justice into his own hands...he'd be Dexter." HELLO SOMEONE WRITE THIS. SOMEONE WHO IS NOT ME, BECAUSE I ALREADY WENT THERE MINUS THE SERIAL KILLER THING AND PLUS THE MAFIA THING. Love, hearts, kisses, Bedlamsbard
bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (usaf cam (dragonlady981))
I keep reading really good Stargate genderfuck, like Joan Sheppard and Cammie Mitchell and Dani Jackson and Jane Sheppard, which is probably what resulted in Ani Skywalker, but for some reason has me thinking of CSI:NY genderfuck. Like girl!Mac. Who'd still go by Mac, but would be -- scarier, maybe. And Stella holds girls nights out. Girl!Mac -- not as good an impression as my two favorite characters.

Such as, of course, Dani Messer and Donna Flack. Well, not Dani Messer and Donna Flack together, but you know what I mean. Donna Flack -- hella scary, because she snaps her gum and bats her eyes and flips her hair and flashes her gun and her badge and her cleavage all at once and keeps tackling people who think it'll be easy to run from a chick. And, you know, she's tall and kind of lanky, so she tends to loom over people.

And Dani Messer! Who's snarky but who tends to shrink into the background -- and she bites her nails. *nods firmly* And tends to get underestimated. And who was Sonny Sassone's girlfriend, back in the day, and Louie was dangerously overprotective of her and Dani had a rebellious phase in which Sonny was the culmination. And when she sees Sonny again (do Danny and Sonny meet in "Run Silent, Run Deep"), she shocks everyone by socking him in the jaw. (Also, if Bardverse Danny was Dani: two words: Mafia princess. Can you imagine?)

Cut for original fic rambling along the same lines. )

Official Visit of Lieutenant General Santa Claus"

No, really, this is about the level of my coherency right now. I'll do a 2007 fic round-up nearer the end of the year; what I should do is a round-up of all the fic I started and didn't finish.

...huh.

I really want to write SGA or Firefly. Obviously this will end badly.

See, it's a good thing my original novel is sci-fi. That way my sci-fi urges are distracted to the purpose they're supposed to be put to.

Granted, I should be, uh, writing Star Wars right now too, but there we go.

*beats SGA/CSI:NY plotbunny down* Sumner's a Marine! Mac was a Marine! Mac could, theoretically, get invited to his funeral! And meet another old Marine buddy, who's really suspicious about all the deaths coming out of Cheyenne Mountain and wants to recruit Mac to help figure it out! And there could be Sheppard/Taylor staredowns while Rodney shrieks in the background!

ETA: Or SGA/Firefly! They need a pilot! Sheppard's a pilot!

Okay, stop me now.

OH MY GOD

Ed Quinn was Frankie! Ed Quinn, as in Nathan Stark, was Frankie way back when!

...I suddenly want to crossover Eureka and CSI:NY. You know, when Stark comes to NYC for some big something, convention or lecture or whatnot, and then there is a death, and so the CSIs are processing and Stella sees Stark and freaks out. And then Carter comes over from Eureka in some fancy jetplane that Fargo's made with Allison and they're mad, because Stark's now a suspect. And Stella, who thinks she's long over Frankie, is really nervous around Stark, who's trying to be nice about the whole thing but is failing kind of badly because he's, well, Stark. And then Adam realizes that it's Nathan Stark and geeks out a whole lot, which Mac and Hawkes are doing too, but slightly more quietly. And there's a possibility that Frankie and Stark actually have a connection of sorts -- hell, I wouldn't put it past Stark to actually be Frankie's brother, just to have changed his name because of family problems.

*purrs* It would be so much fun! Aside from the trauma. Maybe I'll take a week and write out bits of all the fics I want to write like I did before November for Star Wars.

ETA: Evil twin? What the hell am I thinking? This is Eureka. Evil CLONE. LOTS of evil clones.

I feel kind of bad about saying this, but CSI:NY didn't impress me very much last night. Nothing in specific, but I've been loosing interest lately; I'm a lot more interested in my other shows.

Explicit spoilers for CSI:NY, Bones, Numb3rs, The Unit, Cold Case, and Criminal Minds )

I mentioned before that I felt really bad about saying all this, right? Yes. I feel really bad about saying all this since CSI:NY's been my baby for three years now (it's my high school show! it was my first second LJ fandom!), but it's seriously pissing me off. And I'm mid-fandom jump anyway -- I swear to God I'll finish the Snafu rewrite, by the way -- but even if I wasn't I'd be leaning away from it. I was leaning away from it before I got into Star Wars. I mean, it's not like I'm feeling much of an urge to fic any of my other shows, but I'd much rather watch my other shows than CSI:NY at this point. Especially when it comes on after Criminal Minds, which is pretty damn awesome.

Shows I watch: Cold Case, K-Ville, Bones, The Unit, Criminal Minds, CSI:NY, Moonlight, Numb3rs, Supernatural, and Eureka. I would watch NCIS, House, and Two and a Half Men, but they're on at the same time as various other shows.

Because I am bored. And when I am bored, I say, "this is what I should be doing!" (of course, this list does not include my Gov homework, because that would be boring).

Can You Hear Me Now? )

That said, increasingly weirder SW AUs. I swear to God. (All with Anakin and Obi-Wan, though, because I really have no desire to write Qui-Gon. At all.)

I'm really really traumatized by the fact that Homecoming is the same week that CBS premieres, oh, everything.

I mean, the Homecoming Dance is the same night as the Numb3rs premiere! Which has Colby! *weeps* It's my senior Homecoming, guys! Oh, I'm so conflicted.

...the internet has TV. The internet has TV. I just have to keep telling myself this.

In other news, you should all be watching K-Ville on Fox. This show is good, guys: slick, smart, and gritty, with characters on the edge just the way I like them.

Almost makes me want to write Bardverse Flack again, you know, once he's left the NYPD and gone south to New Orleans. (And then has to come back! To face Mac! Which goes really badly, as everyone should be able to predict. Oh, Bardverse.)

(Let's not even get into the fact that I'm really tempted to write Season X for the Danny Messer prompt "everything that dies someday comes back" over on the Character Development Challenge. I mean, come on, picture perfect. The only way it could get better would be writing Bardverse Mafia Danny coming back to the Crime Lab for whatever reason.)

(Dude, [livejournal.com profile] limmenel, I can hear you enabling me from Ottawa. NO, NO, AND NO.)

I'm reading Harry Potter, I'm writing Star Wars, so I keep thinking stuff like "Anakin Skywalker raised his wand -- no, shit, he doesn't use a wand. he's a freaking Jedi, Anakin raised his lightsaber -- no, shit, he doesn't use a lightsaber anymore either, Anakin punched the bastard in the face and pulled a blaster on him, okay, that's better."

We're just lucky I'm not watching a ton of CSI:NY right now, I'd be babbling about Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, galactic detectives who patrol the galaxy with forensic droids and gold badges.

The sad thing is I'm not even kidding.
bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (Default)
Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] traveller: When you see this, post a little weensy excerpt from as many random works-in-progress as you can find lying around. Who knows? Maybe inspiration will burst forth and do something, um, inspiration-y.

This could take a while. I think the folder I was writing in before I went to Brown is upstairs. Also, by WIP, I mean anything that has words and a plot-like-thing. Also note that a lot of these have shown up here before. *cough* )

Also, after seeing "Born Under a Bad Sign", I reiterate: Sam and Dean are so totally Anakin and Obi-Wan. They've even got the murderous rage blackouts and the inability to kill each other!
bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (black powder (madamtorsion))
Also, I got my AP scores back! U.S. History: 4. Calculus AB: 4 (amazing! I thought I'd get, like, a 2, especially considering all the crap that went down during the test). English Language and Composition: 5. YAY.
