Also, I got my AP scores back! U.S. History: 4. Calculus AB: 4 (amazing! I thought I'd get, like, a 2, especially considering all the crap that went down during the test). English Language and Composition: 5. YAY.

This fucking window pisses me off. All I want is for it to go up a foot, maybe two, and it goddamn won't.

"Oh, my cousin," Bellatrix Lestrange says, eyes gleaming even through the murk of Azkaban. "How low the mighty have fallen! I laughed when they told us of your plight, because what fool could believe it, even of you? I suppose those Ministry fools decided blood would win out, in the end."

Sirius turns his face away from the cell door, shoulders shaking, but he can't escape Bella's voice. He doesn't even know if she's real or if he's hallucinating things again. The line between reality and illusion is too thin and blurred badly.

"Sirius," Bella says sweetly, and he looks back. Can't help himself. "What do you want?"

"James," Sirius says helplessly, and Bellatrix Lestrange turns her head back and laughs and laughs and laughs until Sirius is pressing his palms over his ears and curling in on himself, trying to muster up enough energy to do the Animagus transformation just to get away.

Recently all the bird wanted to know was when McKay was going to kiss Sheppard, which was apparently some kind of Ancient tradition that had to happen before they could go to bed together. Sam heard the words "Pres of Love" and nearly stopped up her ears in horror, trying to figure out how to tell him about Don't Ask, Don't Tell and all the horrible things that could happen to Sheppard if McKay actually went through with it.

When the Wraith nearly destroyed Atlantis, she was surprised to find McKay practically in tears, the ill-effects of too little sleep and too much stress. Sheppard was standing next to him in the hall, one of Atlantis's little used back corridors, head tilted back against the wall and an expression of utter exhaustion painted across his face. Rodney was just standing there, for once not talking, and then he looked up at Sheppard with such animal hunger on his face that Sam couldn't see how Sheppard hadn't seen it years earlier. He flattened his palms against the wall as McKay kissed him, and then Sam turned off the cameras so she could claim plausible deniability anytime later.

Guys, this one came to me in a dream. I'm not even kidding. Thus Sam Carter and the bird, which, oh my God, WTF.

Alan stepped off the plane in Florida to a thick wall of humidity that hit him like a load of bricks to the face. Between one minute and the next his silk shirt was sticking to his skin, a sharp, unpleasant feeling that made him itch.

He saw the neat sign in the terminal as soon as he came in. You don't need to be your father, Salla had said. Don't try to be.

Alan touched the tip of his tongue to his front teeth, nervously, and then hoisted his backpack higher on one shoulder and started through the terminal. "Mr. Green?" he said as he came to a halt in front of the sign, the man holding it staring at him in slack-jawed surprise. "I'm Alan Auberon."

There was a pause while Mr. Green visually composed himself, and then he said icily, "We were told to expect Aaron Auberon."

"My father couldn't come," Alan said calmly. "He's not well."

Green's expression cleared slightly. Apparently being sick was an appropriate excuse to miss a meeting buying out America's ninth-largest genetics company. He was still looking unhappy, but it was covered with a thin veneer of socially acceptable poise to conceal how he was feeling in regards to meeting with Aaron Auberon's teenage son instead of Aaron Auberon himself. "I'm sorry to hear that, Mr. Auberon," he said politely. "I'll send someone by to get your bags. Shall we talk in the car?"

"Okay," Alan agreed amiably. They'll treat you differently because you're younger, Salla had said. Let them, and then use it against them. That's a weapon too.

It wasn't supposed to be complicated at all. Alan's father had made the arrangements for Auberon Enterprises to buy out Green-Kocher Labs weeks ago. The only thing left to do was to sign the papers, which Alan could do as is father's legal proxy. One year, and he could do it in his own right, but they didn't have to wait that long.

"Now, Mr. Auberon," Mr. Green said as soon as the doors of the limousine were closed behind them, "I had meant to discuss this with your father when he arrived, but as you are here in his place I feel confident in informing you that Mr. Kocher and I believe --"

"No," Alan said, staring out the window. They were passing over a bridge and he could see the clear blue of the waters below, the verdant green on the other side of the bay and the mangroves that dotted the shore.

"You're such a fucking fool, and God damn blind, too."

Berin has put his hands on Ke'ane before; it doesn't stop him wanting to touch him again. He's drunk water before; it doesn't mean he'll never thirst again. It scares him a little, but that's only if he thinks about it too closely, and he tries not to, especially with Ke'ane gone.

"No consequences," Danny says one night while very drunk at a table in The World's End. "That's what summer is, isn't it? No consequences, no looking back, no wondering if something's fucking right or wrong -- it's a free-fall, ain't it?"

Flack's busy trying to figure out if he's going to have to carry Danny up to his apartment or just help him stumble drunkenly upstairs, and once that's been completed, if he's going to have to pick the lock or hope Danny can get his keys out before he passes out, so all he says is, "Sure."

"Are you in love with her?" Padme says abruptly one night in bed, after Anakin's rolled off her and turned the lights off with a snap of his fingers.

Her hsuband's shock is sudden and absolute. "What?" he says, dumbfounded, and then, "Padme, what?"

"The woman you keep going back to," Padme says, sitting up in bed and holding the sheets to herself. She makes herself meet Anakin's shocked eyes. "I can feel her on you."

"There is no other woman," Anakin says. "Padme, I've been in love with you since I was seven years old and now I have you. Why would I look elsewhere?"

He sounds sincere, but he's a Jedi. They're all manipulators. "But you do go back to someone."

"Only Obi-Wan," Anakin says after a visible pause, and keeps talking, but all Padme can think is only Obi-Wan? Of course it's Obi-Wan, because Anakin's life has always revolved around Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Dean screams. So does Sam. Will has to dig his fingers into the table and say through clenched teeth, "Not part of the bargain," biting hard through his lip once the words are out to keep off the pounding pain.

In the dark space behind Hecate, Norrington's eyes burn as though lit from within.
