Because I am bored. And when I am bored, I say, "this is what I should be doing!" (of course, this list does not include my Gov homework, because that would be boring).

I'm really really traumatized by the fact that Homecoming is the same week that CBS premieres, oh, everything.

I mean, the Homecoming Dance is the same night as the Numb3rs premiere! Which has Colby! *weeps* It's my senior Homecoming, guys! Oh, I'm so conflicted.

...the internet has TV. The internet has TV. I just have to keep telling myself this.

In other news, you should all be watching K-Ville on Fox. This show is good, guys: slick, smart, and gritty, with characters on the edge just the way I like them.

Almost makes me want to write Bardverse Flack again, you know, once he's left the NYPD and gone south to New Orleans. (And then has to come back! To face Mac! Which goes really badly, as everyone should be able to predict. Oh, Bardverse.)

(Let's not even get into the fact that I'm really tempted to write Season X for the Danny Messer prompt "everything that dies someday comes back" over on the Character Development Challenge. I mean, come on, picture perfect. The only way it could get better would be writing Bardverse Mafia Danny coming back to the Crime Lab for whatever reason.)

(Dude, [livejournal.com profile] limmenel, I can hear you enabling me from Ottawa. NO, NO, AND NO.)

I'm taking Snafu (the first Bardverse novel) down for the time being.
bedlamsbard: star wars rebels: hera peering around a corner (Default)
Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] traveller: When you see this, post a little weensy excerpt from as many random works-in-progress as you can find lying around. Who knows? Maybe inspiration will burst forth and do something, um, inspiration-y.

This could take a while. I think the folder I was writing in before I went to Brown is upstairs. Also, by WIP, I mean anything that has words and a plot-like-thing. Also note that a lot of these have shown up here before. *cough* )

Also, after seeing "Born Under a Bad Sign", I reiterate: Sam and Dean are so totally Anakin and Obi-Wan. They've even got the murderous rage blackouts and the inability to kill each other!
bedlamsbard: star wars rebels: hera peering around a corner (black powder (madamtorsion))
I'm leaving for Rhode Island -- Providence, specifically -- on Saturday, right? For a month at Brown University for a creative writing summer program. Well, my mom is freaking out. "Do you have clothes? Do you have toiletries? Don't forget you can't take liquids through airport security! Do you have enough underwear?" My responses: "Mom, I'm going to Providence. It's a big city. I can buy stuff there. Providence is ten times bigger than Ellensburg! It's been around for three hundred and fifty years longer!"

*sigh*

Now, besides the snapshots, there are maybe three novel-lengths left in the Bardverse. One would be the plot that revolves around "Drought" and some of the snapshots: D.J. Pratt's murder, the attempted assassination of Frankie Messer, the Constantine civil war. The other two take place some time later.

King Rat )

And, of course, the Very Last Bardverse Story Ever.

Amazing Grace )

Also, possibly through watching SGA and then trying to work on PotC fic, I think a PotC/SGA crossover would be an excellent idea. Come on! Norrington in Pegasus! Where does it go wrong?

I leave for Rhode Island on Saturday. Yay? Also, hopefully once I'm there, I will be able to figure out how to connect my laptop to the Internet, otherwise I might disappear into the Atlantic! Rhode Island is a very tiny state; you never know.

Also, fic. More Flack and LaMontagne in New Orleans.

It's been a while since your last arrest, hasn't it? )

[livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon: 766 words, so far, out of a 1000 minimum. Maybe a quarter of the way through? Due July 31.
[livejournal.com profile] shakes_that_fic: 0 words out of a 5000 minimum. Plot? Yes. Due by August 17.
[livejournal.com profile] alterego_thon: CSI:NY/Star Wars: 0 words out of a 2000 minimum. Plot? Mostly. Due by April 1.
[livejournal.com profile] alterego_thon: Dark Angel/The Mummy: 0 words out of a 2000 minimum. Plot? More or less. Due by April 1.
Senior Project: 1,786 words, so far, out of a 100,000 minimum. Characters? Still on Earth. Plot? Uh. Due in March/April.

And another Bardverse snapshot, set a little bit before the last one. (Chronological order? Why would I do a crazy thing like that?)

Why'd you really leave the NYPD? )
bedlamsbard: star wars rebels: hera peering around a corner (city life (rah-rahkthnxbye))
I'm trying to make myself write at least a little bit of Bardverse every week -- just a snapshot, probably all post-Bloody Sunday. This one takes place shortly before "Drought."

I'd cry, but I somehow can't bring myself to care. )

Title: Drought
Author: [livejournal.com profile] bedlamsbard
Fandom: CSI:NY
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Nothing stays the same, not even the things that change. Bardverse, some two or three years after "The Man Who Wasn't There."
Author's Notes: In a startling turn of events, this is...not, actually, [livejournal.com profile] limmenel's fault.

I swear I posted this before, but I can't find it, so I'll post it (again?).

My Danny... )
bedlamsbard: star wars rebels: hera peering around a corner (city life (rah-rahkthnxbye))
Takes up five years after an alternate Bloody Sunday where Danny took Val up on his offer, Aiden didn't die, and Lindsay didn't come to New York until after Danny quit the NYPD.

For limmenel, because she just had tooth surgery, and thus needs Mafia Danny. )

Five cases Bones never wanted to work on.
Five times Mac didn't know about an inter-lab romance.
The five times McKay has found himself humbled.
Five scenes from Danny's life after he gets Made.
Five moments between Val and Danny.
The five most important people in Carmine d'Alessandro's life.
Five times Luc has regretted wooing (or not wooing) a woman.

You know what is really fucking creepy? I went to the WMEA website to look at the schedule for State Solo Ensemble, and was looking at the tenor-bari sax competitors (I may go down to the college later today to see Birkin play), and found a guy with the exact same name as one of my original MCs. Dude, coincidence. It's not a common name, either. At least chances are that this sax player isn't a genetically-engineered killing machine government agent. Also, there is a sax player with the last name "Saxe." Man, bet he didn't have any choice but to play saxophone.

I now have a full-fledged plot for the Bardverse AU -- off a slightly different Bloody Sunday -- where Danny takes Val up on his offer. No, I'm serious, a FULL-FLEDGED PLOT. See, it'd be called 'The Man Who Wasn't There.' ) You know, this time, Bardverse without the supernatural.
