Official Visit of Lieutenant General Santa Claus"

No, really, this is about the level of my coherency right now. I'll do a 2007 fic round-up nearer the end of the year; what I should do is a round-up of all the fic I started and didn't finish.

...huh.

Fandom: CSI:NY
Title: Chekhov's Gun
The one where...: Flack trades himself for Adam during the events of "Snow Day."
Current wordcount: 2,324
Why it's not done: Not much motivation, not sure where it's going.
“Do them now, both of them,” one of them was saying. “Constantine can’t know it was us.”

“Are ye stupid or just suicidal?” the other one snapped. “Everyone knew somethin’ was goin’ down today, and it wouldn’t take a genius to narrow it down to us. Constantine’ll wipe us off the map if we kill his nephew, just to be sure. He’s the one we can’t kill, and the coppers will be in on us if they hear a gunshot. Kill a cop and they’ll never stop hunting us.”

“They’re goin’ to kill us anyway! What does it matter if we take a few of them with us or not? It’s only right.”

No answer.

“I’m goin’ in there,” he continued, and Flack heard the sound of an assault rifle racking. He put his hand on his ankle, beneath the fall of his pants, and undid the strap on his holster. Danny tensed.

“You stupid bastard, Jake!” the mobster still outside bellowed as Jake boosted himself into the truck. Flack stared at him, flat and emotionless, as he raised the rifle.

Title: Lazarus
The one where...: Will is an immortal hunter and Sam wants his help to release Dean from his deal.
Current wordcount: 810
Why it's not done: No motivation, haven't figured out how to make everything work exactly so.
Norrington smiled thinly. He was a steady figure in the murk, spirits flickering around him in an endless whirlwind, tugging lightly at his sleeves. “The ferryman sends his regards, Captain,” he said. “He’s calling in his debt.”

A slow shiver went down Will’s spine. “His debt,” he repeated, mouth dry.

Or the deal’s off and you go straight to the Locker,” Norrington said seriously. “And there’s no one to fetch you back this time.” He smiled briefly. “Or gamble for your soul.”

“I doubt it would work again anyway,” Will said. “Who is it?”

Norrington held up one hand, let the compass fall to dangle by its chain. “An old mutual acquaintance.”

Will let the gun fall. “He’s out,” he sad breathlessly.

The door is open, Captain Turner,” the commodore said. “And you’ve got a debt to pay.”

Title: untitled (the second Lostverse story)
The one where...: The world comes crashing down on Anakin in several ways.
Current wordcount: 4,490
Why it's not done: Distractions, and I'm trying to hit the right emotional notes.
“I’m not going to help you,” he said, swallowing past the sudden lump in his throat. “The Jedi are done. It’s over. We’ve lost. I’m a little too occupied with staying alive to fight your war for you, and that’s even assuming one man would help you at all. It won’t. I don’t care what you think you know, or what you saw, but it won’t. It’s too late for that.”

“The Jedi are legendary,” the Peacekeeper behind Elan said. “Was that just Republic propaganda?”

“The Jedi are legend,” Anakin corrected. “Legends are history. That means they’re gone, Peacekeeper. Get that through your head. You said you’d watched the Empire conquer other planets; then you know that they’ve killed every Jedi that’s crossed their path whether or not they fought. Putting me in the fight won’t help Ixtapa at all; it’ll just mean your punishment will be worse. You’d be better off just surrendering while you have the chance.”

Title: A Long Time Gone (the third Lostverse story)
The one where...: Anakin faces his destiny.
Current wordcount: Unknown, not on my computer
Why it's not done: Finishing the second Lostverse story first.
"That's a completely idiotic plan," Starkiller drawled. "The Empire outnumbers you ten to one. All you'll accomplish is total obliteration of your little rebellion."

"And who are you?" Mon Mothma demanded, voice rising over the angry rumble that followed Starkiller's statement.

Starkiller arched an eyebrow. "Don't recognize me, Senator Mothma?"

"Should I?"

"Anakin Skywalker, Jedi Knight," Quinlan said.

"What?" Luke burst out.

Starkiller gave him a thin smile. "I haven't been Anakin Skywalker for a while now."

Fandom: Star Wars
Title: Bad Moon Rising
The one where...: Obi-Wan is declared dead and Anakin goes on a rampage.
Current wordcount: 6,478
Why it's not done: Wrote myself in a corner. Whoops.
“The only reason that you’re still on the loose is because no one has the time to go after you,” Mareq said precisely. “We’re fighting a war here, Padawan; we need every Jedi, even the dimwitted ones like you.”

“I’m fighting,” Anakin protested, hand still on his lightsaber beneath the table. “I’m doing a damn sight better than the Grand Army.”

“You’re unfocused, you’re not following orders – we’re generals, not soldiers.”

“We’re both,” he spat. “You’ve been out in the field; what do you call that if not fighting?”

Surviving. You’re with me until this campaign is over, Skywalker, then I’m taking you back to Coruscant to face the Council for your defection.”

Defection?” Anakin demanded, disbelieving. “I didn’t defect.”

“Does it matter what you call it?” Mareq shrugged. “You walked out on a war. If you weren’t the precious Chosen One, you’d be lucky if you weren’t thrown out of the Order with the Force burned out of you. As it is, I feel sorry for the poor bastard that gets you as a Padawan. I hear Ki-Adi-Mundi’s been refusing to talk to anyone less than full Knight since he handed you back to Kenobi.”

Fandom: Star Wars
Title: What Is and What Should Never Be
The one where...: Qui-Gon trained Anakin instead of Obi-Wan and it turned out really badly.
Current wordcount: 1,226
Why it's not done: I don't really feel like rewriting all of AotC.
“What do we do now?”

Obi-Wan glanced at him, surprised. “We’ll deliver the assassin’s body to the Temple morgue, then you’ll go back to Qui-Gon and I’ll go back to Senator Amidala, and tomorrow we’ll report to the Council.”

“We?” Skywalker said hesitantly.

“Well, you’re here, aren’t you?” Obi-Wan said impatiently. There was an awkward pause while Skywalker swerved tightly to one side to avoid a speeder that was going the wrong way. “Skywalker. Qui-Gon knows you’re here, doesn’t he?”

“Yes!” Skywalker exclaimed, followed by a flare of emotion through the Force. “Yes, of course, he said it was all right if I went to go see Padmé – I mean Senator Amidala. I just – I mean – Qui-Gon’s my Master.”

“Yes,” Obi-Wan said slowly, trying to figure out what he was getting at it. “He was mine, too, when I was a Padawan.”

Fandom: Star Wars
Title: untitled
The one where...: The Millennium Falcon crashlands in the middle of the Clone Wars.
Current wordcount: 967
Why it's not done: Not really sure where it's going, also not sure of my fix on the OT characters.
“What in hell are you doing?” Leia shrieked, hair falling out of its neat buns as she leaned over the pilot’s seat.

“Trying to keep us alive, princess,” Han swore back, hands tight on the Falcon’s controls. “And out of imperial hands. Hard to pull off a rescue when you’re the one locked up, your holiness.”

Leia ignored that. “We’re too close to that black hole,” she said sharply. “Are you insane? We won’t be able to make the jump to hyperspace.”

“That star destroyer won’t be able to make the jump,” Han corrected. “Chewie, Luke – someone get her out of here. I’m trying to concentrate. I can’t do that with her screeching.”

“My screeching?” Leia said dangerously, then let out a sound of protest as Chewie scooted out of his chair and picked her up bodily. “Put me down, you – you hairball! Han!”
