Because he totally is! I mean, come on, John's last words to Dean are something along the lines of "Kill him if you have to" and Qui-Gon's last words to Obi-Wan are "Train the boy" and they're -- sort of alike. Although Qui-Gon is a lot more positive than John, come to think of it.
I just have this vision of Sam and Anakin angsting across the galaxy. With Obi-Wan and Dean following behind, passing the bottle back and forth...

See, I've just got Sam and Anakin meeting up after the YED meets his death, and maybe the YED had some, like, other reality show survivor camps...or something...and Dean and Obi-Wan just look at each other and bond.
