bedlamsbardHas anyone else noticed that this entire movie is basically Anakin going, "Why does the entire galaxy hate me?" and Obi-Wan going, "Why does this always happen to me?" Because it totally is.
Other observations:
After Anakin has killed the little assassin caterpillar things and is kneeling on Padme's bed: you can tell her thoughts are something along the lines of "Oh God, now what? Get off me, you Jedi lunatic!" And then Obi-Wan jumps out a window.
Anakin and Watto on Tatooine. Oh God. You can see how much he hates being back there, seriously. I have some really massive amounts of love for that scene.
About the Lars Family, to Padme: "These are good people." Hi, do you know they'll be raising your son in three years?
When Anakin's killing the Tuscan raiders and Yoda's hearing it in the Force, it's Obi-Wan yelling, "Anakin! Anakin! No!" Yet Obi-Wan's already on Geonosis getting tempted by Dooku. Huh.
Oh, Anakin. "I'm a Jedi, I'm supposed to be better than that," when Padme tells him that it's only human to be angry.
R2-D2 and C-3P0 on Geonosis make me want to die, and not in a good way. *sigh* Stupidest part in the entire movie.
On Geonosis, in the factory fight scene (everyone always complains about the podrace in TPM, but this is just as bad, and I've never heard any complaints about it. It may be because SW fans hate talking about AotC, though). This scene is seriously All About Anakin and the galaxy's hate-on for him. Especially once his arm gets caught. Just the look on his face. "Why does the galaxy hate me?!"
When Padme tells him she loves him, the look on Anakin's face isn't gratification, it's horror. It's, "Oh, shit, I thought I didn't have to worry about this anymore, oh my God, I'm completely fucked."
When Anakin and Padme are getting hauled out to the arena, Anakin smiles when he sees Obi-Wan. It's just the tiniest little smile, but it's genuine; it's "Oh, thank God, now we're okay because we're both here."
Padme -- who the hell knows how to pick locks with their teeth?
Obi-Wan really likes fighting. In the middle of the arena battle, right after he's dispatched a couple of droids and right before the giant carnivorous insect thing attacks him (again), he's got this look on his face of joy and satisfaction. He's grinning -- and he has the same expression again in RotS, when he's going after Grievous.
Dude, Obi-Wan's hair gets mussed. For some reason this is ten kinds of hot. Then it goes back to being perfect again, but for a minute or so it's mussed and a little fluffed out.
On the RotS deleted scenes: hmm, so that's Mon Mothma, Anakin's screwed, Obi-Wan and Anakin are ten kinds of adorable when they're screwing around on the Invisible Hand. Sign language! They have their own unspoken sign language! How is this not thirty kinds of hot and adorable? You can totally tell Grievous is having a moment of, "What the hell is wrong with you people?"
I, uh, only watched the RotS deleted scenes and about half of AotC. And by half, I mean the half in the middle, not the beginning or the end. And by the half in the middle, I mean, the fight scenes and Anakin on Tatooine. Did watch the speeder chase in the beginning, though, but I don't really have any thoughts on that. Oh, and Obi-Wan kicking ass on Kamino, but again, no thoughts on that. I probably should watch the Naboo scenes, though.
I don't know why everyone in the fandom hates this movie; of the prequels, it's my favorite.
