Dr. Shelton McAuliffe: A sheltered astrophysicist, Shelton McAuliffe was a late addition to the North Carolina's science complement. When the Carolina's first Chief Science Officer was killed within hours of the Carolina's arrival in Rokasa, Shelton was forced into the position of CSO. Chosen by Major Ethan Drew to serve on his recon team, Shelton learned how to use a gun as well as hand-to-hand combat. Along with the aid of Dr. Nakamura and Dr. Berrier, Shelton built the Zelenka converter that was able to create a temporary one-way wormhole that connected Rokasa to the Milky Way, allowing the North Carolina to return to Earth.
Major Ethan Drew: Another late addition to the North Carolina, USAF Major Ethan Drew was transferred from active duty in Iraq to Rokasa, where he became Commodore Bernard Nichols' second in command aboard the Carolina, commanding the starcarrier's military complement of Marines and Air Force pilots. A charismatic CO and gifted pilot, Drew was popular among all the Carolina's personnel. He developed an especially close relationship with his recon team. When the Carolina returned to Earth, Drew briefly faced court-martial for desertion and treason, but the charges were dropped and instead, he was assigned to McMurdo Air Force Base in Antarctica as a flight instructor for the fledgling X-107 program.
Dr. Cameron Lorne: Recruited for the Rokasa mission because of his background as an Army special forces operative, Cameron Lorne is a talented young chemist who became Shelton McAuliffe's second among the science team and Ethan Drew's XO in the field. Trained as a Ranger and discharged from the Army following a breach of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Cam was personally chosen by Ethan Drew for his recon team because of his significant combat experience as well as his skills as a scientist.
General Berin Sunstark: A member of the Vira, the Rokasan Empire's warrior caste, Berin Sunstark has been trained into nothing less than a living weapon. A POW captured by the New York, he was sent to the North Carolina to separate him from his partner and mentor Ke'ane Lannister and has since made tentative alliances with the Carolina's personnel, both military and civilian. Onboard the Carolina when Shelton McAuliffe opened the wormhole back to Earth, he has lost some of his relative freedom as an alien studied by dozens of government scientists.
