Good news: Got into Oxford College of Emory University in Atlanta, GA. (Well, technically Oxford's in Oxford outside of Atlanta, but Emory's in Atlanta, so.)

Good news: On spring break.

Bad news: Senior project due Tuesday. Novel nowhere near done. On the bright side, figured out the plot.

So I woke up with a story in my head this morning.

Post-apocalyptic -- cross Jericho and Supernatural and that should about sum it up, something like the type of thing where the supernatural is let loose into the world and society is destroyed, &c, &c. Possibly has something to do with the War on Terror, or is otherwise a deliberate action. I am aware of there being three women and one man -- or rather, three women and one werewolf/shapeshifter named Balin, who's involved with one of the women (or is he? It could be a purely platonic love, although I know they sleep together; I just don't know if they sleep together). I don't know her name. I do know that she's a young unwed mother; her daughter is maybe two or three by the time the story begins, although she was born after the "apocalypse." I know that one of other women is Balin's mother. I also know that Balin has a twin brother named Cole, who their mother has disowned. Cole is part of a wolfpack living outside the building that they're all hiding out in, and to protect themselves, the women and Balin decide to make a deal with the wolfpack, protection for -- tolerance? Food? Medical care? I don't know. Cole comes into the house/building as a wolf and prowls around, finally nosing into a bedroom, where he sees Balin lying on the bed. The woman with the daughter comes into the room holding a shotgun, the older woman (Balin and Cole's mother) behind her. Cole says his name is Colin, the woman says she thought it was Cole, and Balin and his mother both say, "No," at the same time; Cole's just trying to screw with her head.

It turns out Balin is outcast from the wolfpack for some reason, but the wolfpack is agreeable to the deal. I learn that the building is part of an all-women's college that weathered the apocalypse better than most of the surrounding area. I also learn that the woman's boyfriend and father of her daughter was sent to Iraq (part of the Army or National Guard; I don't know which one) before the apocalypse; she still wears an old pair of his dog tags. She thinks he's probably dead.

Sometime after the deal with the wolfpack is made, a company of Army/National Guard soldiers comes to town. It's the woman's boyfriend's company. They argue for a while, then the company commander pushes her way forward. Her name is Captain Jamison ("Jamie"); they're here to help. The women explain about the deal with the wolfpack.

Somehow Balin gets shot by one of the soldiers, and Jamie unleashes hell trying to find out who did it. One young private comes up to her and confesses that he did it; everyone in his family was killed by wolves. Captain Jamie is NOT HAPPY. Something else has gone badly wrong, though; someone (one of the soldiers?) is on the run, and they need to chase him. But the only ones who'll be able to track him in time are the wolves, and the wolfpack flatly refuses to help (or do they?). That leaves Balin, but he's badly injured.

Also, my goal for the next few days is to get everything that's part of Spaceforce that isn't typed up typed up, knit it all together into one document, go through and put appropriately thinky editing marks (i.e. "this should be changed because Beau is no longer going to Cheyenne Mountain, he's going to Groom Lake" and "and here is a major time lapse because I couldn't figure out what happened in the middle, but know this: somehow, sometime, Beau got shot (AGAIN!) and Colby got put back on flight status" and "I don't think I'm going to use this, but I'll keep it here anyway because I might and anyway, Beau freaking out after being turned into a girl is kind of funny. Why is Beau with Alpha Team? Where is Bravo Team? I should probably figure that out"), and then do the PowerPoint "Inside Spaceforce" guide because I don't want to leave the poor soul who's supposed to read my novel completely confused, and anyway, this was supposed to be my original PowerPoint before they changed the fucking requirements, ahem. Which should take maybe two or three days, and then I am not thinking about Spaceforce for a week and writing fic. Fic, fic, fic. Like the Numb3rs Charlie/Colby fic (not the above Colby. The above Colby is Captain Colby Quinn, USAF, not Special Agent Colby Granger, FBI), and the Lostverse (aside from the fact I apparently have to write a PROLOGUE now, but I like the prologue), and Eureka fic (see, I gave Ethan Drew my Nathan Stark's background, but my Nathan Stark was a juvenile delinquent/gangbanger/genius who was recruited by the Army and also Henry, who very possibly saved him/his life, but unfortunately, sometimes old lives come calling even in Eureka. Also, did I mention that in my head Nathan Stark's illegitimate brother (my Nathan is, you see, the illegitimate one) is Frankie Mara, and then he comes to New York and someone dies and hey presto, Stella and CSI:NY crossover!), and the Supernatural/CSI crossover (Flack is totally a hunter, and Danny totally owns a haunted Mafia bar, no, really, work with me here) and possibly even a little CSI:NY semi-Bardverse Mafia!Danny fic (part of my enthusiasm for the Bardverse has fled because of how badly silly canon fucked with my Danny's family notions by giving him Louie as a brother, so I have to figure out what to do with the three brothers I gave Danny).

And other original fic! Like Ellis and LaMontaine (thank you New Orleans!), and The Lucky Ones (Beauty and the Beast, only Beauty falls in love with the candlestick instead. whoops), and the above post-apocalyptic story, and then we cycle back to Spaceforce, because I love it, really, I do, even when I want to bash it out of my computer with a screwdriver.

Also homework. And scholarships. Because I'd like to be able to afford to go to college.
