WHY SO AWESOME, NARNIA?
Jan. 3rd, 2009 01:34 amYou know, when one happens to be watching the same few scenes over and over again, one notices very strange things. Like, when Caspian is talking with Susan and Lucy just before they go galloping off into the forest, where the hell does he pull Susan's horn out of? He can't possibly have room just to stick it through his belt, and that's probably a little awkward, isn't it? And when he rescues Susan, leaving aside the unlikelihood of Queen Susan the Gentle of Narnia, shrinking violet, why doesn't Susan take one of the loose Telmarine horses, instead of riding pillion behind Caspian? And how did she and Caspian let Telmarines get past them to go after Lucy? (Not to mention, you know, where did Caspian come from?, but I'm covering that.) And when Edmund is fixing Peter's dislocated arm, what the hell is Caspian doing, kneeling down and ripping up fabric. That's not going to help, Caspian, what the hell are you doing? Although I like how he looks up when Edmund jerks his arm back into joint and Peter gasps in pain.
*watches again* Oh. OH. OH MY GOD. Caspian's fashioning cushioning for Peter's shield! I'm not exactly sure what the point of that is, but you can see it -- he takes Peter's shield from him while Edmund's putting Peter's arm back in join, and then he's bending down over Peter's shield and ripping up fabric, and while we don't see him put Peter's shield back on his arm, he's on Peter's left side in the next shot -- this is the one where he has his arm around Peter's waist, for the hoyay of the moment, you know -- and the next shot we have where we can see the straps of Peter's shield, they're the same blue fabric Caspian was ripping up! That's not their original color, either; they're originally red leatherlike everything else he owns. DAMN NARNIA WHY SO AWESOME? Even the friggin' busywork is useful. *flails mightily*
Yeah. Guess which scenes I'm writing in Water right now? I friggin' told y'all that I was endgame!
