Aug. 26th, 2009 10:17 pmOh, I like Ralph Waldo Emerson. I really do. I mean, come on, how can you not like a guy who tells you to do what makes you happy and makes you content and fuck the rest of the world if they don't like it?
I'm sure this says something about me, probably something rather unpleasant, but I don't particularly care.
As an afterthought, I got the job. I will be working at Sophielab, the social media...thing at the Newcomb College Center for Research on Women. (Dear Fandom: Thank you for making me a feminist. I could have gotten the same things I'm getting out of Intro to Gender and Sexuality Studies off of
metafandom -- and have (and I don't even read metafandom) -- but I wouldn't be getting the college credit, alas. Get on this, fandom. Hearts, Bedlam.)
I came out of Japanese today not wanting to kill myself in despair. I -- think this is a good sign, and will therefore not look into dropping the class.
I am currently drinking Allegro Fine Tea Himalayan Green, and am not entirely certain I like it. It's -- not quite as delicate as I usually like? I'm not sure; I've been drinking Japanese loose leaf tea all summer, and then came to New Orleans and switched to this Chinese jasmine which comes in little balls of tea leaves, since I didn't have any bag tea when I first arrived, but I did have a tea tumbler, which I could brew loose leaf in. But I trekked to Whole Foods on Sunday, picking up the Himalayan Green and my favorite black/green/white tea mix ever, Allegro Fine Tea Ancient Forest Fusion, as well as some loose leaf Rishi Jasmine Tea, which I've never tried before -- I mostly just got it for the metal container it's in, since I have a package of Japanese loose leaf but nowhere to put it except the package it came in. My mother's family sends us tea from Japan. You know how to annoy someone from Shizuoka prefecture, the premier tea producing prefecture in Japan? Tell them you prefer drinking bag green tea from China.
