Dragon Attack on the Dawn Treader

I don't -- was there a dragon attack in the book? Eustace was the only dragon there was, wasn't he? There was a sea serpent attack, but no dragon. Unless this is Eustace? It could be Eustace, I s'pose. *ponders*

Yesterday I went to Southern Decadence down in the Quarter and saw Christian protestors for the first time (I led a very sheltered childhood in a SMALL TOWN, guys), today I baked muffins, and gave most of them away to my friends.

Saturday I was on the phone with my parents, which is always fun. I was out on the balcony outside the laundry room, and had the fascinating opportunity to observe the great migration of various college students from their dorms on McAlister to Broadway, which houses the Boot (the closest bar) and most of the frat and sorority houses.

Of course, I remarked on this to my parents.

Dad: Are you going to a party later?
Me: NO.
Dad: Well, have fun being a hermit!
Me: I will!
*later*
Dad: You should go to a party, you know.
Me: Oh my god, no! Frat parties are all drinking and nonconsensual sex!
Dad: *laughs at me*

Yes. My father wants me to go to a frat party. (In frat parties' defense, I have heard that they are evidently a great place to meet people. In my own defense, I (1) have been brainwashed by the paranoia of public school and fandom and (2) have no social life whatsoever; I don't like parties.

Also, yesterday I proved to myself that yes, I can in fact still write 3500 words in about three hours. SCORE. I ROCK. And it was canon-compliant! And Golden Age! And featured a canon character as a POV!

I also bought 411 yards of yarn with which to make my first pair of SOCKS. For...uh, a ridiculous price. Which I paid in cash, so that my parents don't know that I went to a LYS in the Quarter instead of being frugal and ordering yarn online. But I feel bad going into a shop that small and not buying something, especially when I was talking to the lady working there about sock yarn. Besides, the Quarter Stitch always packages the yarn up so pretty -- they wrap the yarn up in tissue paper (purple, this time), put in a bag, sprinkle some cut out pink tissue paper hearts in the bag, and tie the bag off with ribbon that they then curl.

Also, I think by getting used to loose leaf tea I will never be able to get back to tea bags. This may be somewhat of a problem. Loose leaf is more expensive.

But it tastes better.

Okay, I am going to brew up some more jasmine tea and analyze Frederick Douglass. (Who I keep calling Franklin Douglass. No idea why.)
