Myth is a dramatic narrative of critical events, historical or pseudo-historical, which functions to assist the individual or society in ordering their present experience. Myth imposes meaning on events. History and myth are not necessarily incompatible. The historian may create myth in the very process of writing history. On the other hand, the events which the myth recounts may be pseudo-history. But more than likely, in the case of contemporary myth, the narrative -- though referring to a series of events which did occurr -- selects, organizes, and interprets these events in a distinctive manner.

(Anyone else kind of bewildered by the new 2009 MLA standards? Yeah, me too. I actually have to use APA for this class, 's just that I know MLA better.)

Dear Study Abroad Fair, if it's not too much trouble, please have people from the actual study abroad office who can tell the nice students interesting in going abroad how to ACTUALLY APPLY.

One would think this would be the FIRST thing they'd have at the fair, but no... This was the sole reason I went to the fair, by the way, since I already know where I want to go.

From what I can garner by looking at the study abroad website, I have to declare my majors before I can actually go in and talk to them, which I suppose I should do. Well, I mean, I have to do that anyway. Okay, let me go start hunting down who I have to contact in order to do that...that would be the Director of Undergraduate Studies. Who is in the history department. Is there a director of undergraduate studies in each department or is that just overall? Please to be having this information easily available, Tulane.

The History Department beats the English Department for telling me things. BAH.

Oh! Found it. Molly Travis for English and Marline Otte for History. And the Department of Classical Studies tells you RIGHT UP FRONT. So far as giving you this information, History and Classics win, English fails. A LOT.

Oooh! There's a public service component to a science, I can kill two birds with one stone!
