madness, it is clearly madness
Nov. 17th, 2009 03:40 pmI, um, want to double major in Medieval and Early Modern Studies and, um, Classical Studies.
...yeah.
IN OTHER NEWS. I registered for classes for next semester AND THEY ARE:
CLAS 2811 "Art and Mythology in Ancient Greece" (Honors)
CLAS 3030/HISA 3030 "Early Medieval and Byzantine Civilization"
EBIO 2600 "Natural Resource Conservation" (with public service)
ENLS 4490 "Early Major Authors: Spenser"
GERM 3670 "Grimm Reckonings: The Development of the German Fairy Tale"
HISA 3310 "Medieval England"
But then the director of the Honors Program e-mailed everyone to tell them that although the history department is offering no honors classes this semester, the 6000 level classes will automatically count towards honors. GUYS GUYS THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING. Rome and the Raj! Crime and Punishment in Hanoverian England! The Ottoman Empire: 1300-1600!
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF.
...oh, good, I can't accidentally sign up for Rome and the Raj, it's already full. BUT LISTEN TO THIS DESCRIPTION FOR CRIME AND PUNISHMENT: "This in depth seminar focuses on crime, punishment and the justice system in eighteenth-century England. We will investigate such topics as the rise of defense lawyers, the goals of punishment and the development of a system of police. Students will also make use of a digitized data base, “theoldbaileyonline” which contains the transcripts of trials held at the Old Bailey courthouse in London, to write a research paper."
TRANSCRIPTS OF TRIALS HELD AT THE OLD BAILEY COURTHOUSE. BE STILL MY HEART. I mean, granted, the class is two hours and a seminar and taught by the prof I'll have for Medieval England BUT TRANSCRIPTS OF TRIALS.
...clearly I'm in the right major. Wait, I should probably check if this counts for the major -- it is not I HAVE NO EXCUSES. No schedule-changing! ...unless Rome and the Raj opens up.
Also, I like the way my schedule looks:
