Well, this is awkward. I have a distinct memory of both writing and posting a bit of pre-Dust fic of Elizar Confesor and Mayor's first meeting, and I cannot find it. It is not linked on the timeline and it's not coming up on the fanfic tag (on either LJ or DW), and I know I wrote it -- oh, wait, I found it! Mmm, paid DW gives you a journal search, this is the first time I have used it!

...ah, that's why it didn't come up on the fanfic tag; it's tagged under "fic" instead. Must consolidate those two.

For reference, it is the last fic on this page. *sighs*

*pauses* Well, there's a slight problem. The good news is that CWU didn't cancel Latin 151 (equivalent, so far as I can tell, to 101 at Tulane). The bad news is that Tulane did cancel Latin 102, so if I take Latin this summer, then I wouldn't be able to take it in the fall, which was...sort of the point.

The other good news is that the textbook for Latin 151 at CWU and Latin 101 at Tulane is the same (Wheelock), but that's kind of pointless right now. I -- suppose I could see about trying to take 102 as an arranged study in the fall (although I don't know the Latin professors personally; of the professors that are teaching Latin classes in the fall, I've only had one before, although obviously all the classicists have their Latin)? Or not take it this summer and just take it in the fall? Or take it this summer, not take Latin in the fall, and take Greek 101 instead? Or not take a language at all in the fall? There are 203 classes in the fall, but I'm definitely not going to be able to be up to that level by August.

I mean, the sensible thing to do would be to just take the one geology class at Central, maybe go ahead and take the morning yoga class that I wouldn't otherwise be able to take, and then go ahead with my planned fall schedule at Tulane, but the CWU prof has been really nice (and I have shown lots of interest), and I don't know what to do! Argh, I expected CWU to fuck with me, but not Tulane.

The good news is my family finally moved partially into the twenty-first century and bought a flatscreen TV! OMG WE CAN ACTUALLY SEE THINGS ON THE SCREEN. We are still only partially in the 21st century because we still have an antenna, and now for some reason we don't get NBC, but we do get two religious channels, one Spanish language channels, ABC, FOX, CBS, the CW, PBS, Create, THIS (not sure what this is, no pun intended), and something I'm not sure about but which was playing Law and Order, but which wasn't NBC because L&O wasn't on.

Of course, I was the one who had to actually clean out the TV media cupboard stand thing, then attach the stand to the TV, then install the TV, which mostly consisted of me looking dubiously at cables and trying to attach them to the TV in the proper order, but eventually I got the DVD player hooked up, the speakers hooked up, the VHS player hooked up, and the antenna hooked up, some of which involved me hauling over a stool so I could actually see the VHS and DVD players (they're up on this shelf above the TV, and as we have mentioned before, I am short), and then set up the TV. And then we had ACTUAL PICTURE QUALITY OMG.

And then I was overcome by searing back pain. That was fun. Well, it wasn't too bad at the time, but about half an hour later we had dinner, and for some reason my back gets worse during dinner (this happened a couple of days ago, too) and afterwards I limped upstairs to lie down and not move for a while. (Around forty minutes; the invention of the iPod was a good thing.) And then there was television! And only mild back pain!

Back pain is still present, by the way. It would be nice if my parents said something sympathetic instead of, "Oh, you don't get enough exercise," and, "Oh, you don't stretch enough." Possibly true to some extent to another; on the other hand, I was having back pain at university when I was walking 10+ miles a week, and it doesn't change the fact that it fucking hurts and Advil doesn't help. My mother is convinced that yoga is the cure.

From [profile] isweeden via Twitter -- amigurimi Reepicheep, with his sword, in his coracle, in a sea of lilies! There's a blog post here where the crafter talks a little bit more about the work that put into it (and her feelings towards Narnia; quite similar to some of us, I think).
