bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (home (nicolemissing))
I woke up this morning with the most intense urge to write Narnia. No plot, no characters, no tag lines, just MUST WRITE NARNIA.

Alas, I cannot write Narnia. I have to read the better part of all the books in New Orleans and also write a paper on Athens and Persia between the Persian War and the Peloponnesian War. Stuff happened. I'll get back to you on what once I figure it out.

I should write all my papers in the evenings. I'm usually much more eloquent in the evenings than I am during the day, I'm not sure why. Not that eloquence is really a major concern in a history paper -- facts are probably slightly more helpful -- but considering that the entire class is going to read the report, it should at least be easy to read, yeah? So much more fun.

My favorite line so far from one of my sources (The Cambridge History of Iran, Vol. 2) is this one: "one of those tigress-mothers whose uninhibited instincts repeatedly bedevilled the attempts of kings to act wisely." I like old-school history writers; a lot of the time they're much more fun to read than modern writers, who take themselves a little too seriously. Sometimes they're prone to using exclamation points in unnecessary placeS: "This could be attained only by the support, financial more than military, of the Persian Empire, and, accordingly, Pausanias prepared to etray the Greeks whom he had just liberated at Plataea!" (from The Cambridge History of the Persian Empire.)

...and then the fire alarm went off, gee, that was fun.
