Oct. 5th, 2010 12:33 pmSometimes I feel like I spend half my time in my apartment doing the dishes. This is not actually true, it just feels that way, but I do tend to do the dishes two or three or more times a day. (We don't use our dishwasher.) Which is not to say that no one else in my apartment does the dishes, because they do! They just don't tend to do them soon enough for my tastes, and knowing that the dishes are sitting there in the sink unwashed really agitates me, for whatever reason. I do try not to do the dishes if there aren't at least two or three things in there that are mine, and I tend to leave behind a lot of dishes after I cook, but I do the washing up immediately after I've eaten; the only time I ever left multiple items in the sink overnight was when I burned my hand and doing dishes was not really the brightest idea.
I mean, I don't really mind doing dishes -- I find it pretty soothing, a lot of the time, except when I'm wondering why the hell someone ELSE couldn't have done their dishes. My mother has told me to just stop doing other people's dishes, but (1) that's rude, since they'll do mine if I leave them in the sink long enough, (2) I can't use the rest of the sink if it's full of stuff, and (3) seriously, the knowledge that there is STUFF in the SINK and it is DIRTY really really agitates me. Most things don't; that does.
Anyway, not a complaint, just...an observation. I know, my life is so dreadfully exciting. Next, I shall tell you about how I wrote the wrong title throughout my paper on Jason and the Golden Fleece! (I really did. We get the papers back on Thursday; I did not realize it until I handed it in. I wrote Argonautica in the title, Jason and the Golden Fleece in the bibliography, and Jason and the Argonauts throughout the paper. It's supposed to be Jason and the Golden Fleece. *dies*)
