my life, still really boring.

I have decided that I am fully willing to embrace my history dorkdom. (FIRST MENTION OF GORILLAS IN CLASSICAL HISTORY WHOO.) However, I still do not understand people who find history boring. It is the most bewildering thing.

In other news: Virgil, biggest Homer fanboy ever or BIGGEST HOMER FANBOY EVER? I've actually never read The Aeneid before, so this is quite fascinating; unfortunately I have to write a paper next week about how Virgil uses the Iliad in the Aeneid, and I am kind of stumped, except for the Hera/Juno hatred. There's definitely a lot of Odyssey refs in there, and quite a few Argonautika ones; I'm not picking up as much Iliad. He's really obsessed with the future (his past, Aeneas's future), though, which is quite interesting, and definitely something that doesn't really occur in The Iliad or the Argonautika. Does Virgil have A Mission? WHY YES HE DOES.

In unrelated news: it turns out if you have a nervous breakdown over the fact that the dishes were not washed, people, uh, wash their dishes.

Texas's 21st birthday is coming up! I must make her a cake. I must find a good cake recipe.
