(no subject)

Classes are beginning to show up for next semester! On the one hand, yay! On the other hand, oh my god it is my last year of university and I have to make Decisions. I've got about one class left to fill in each major -- Classics I have to take one more class above a 400 level, and I have to figure out if I have to take a capstone if it's my secondary major and I'm doing my honors thesis as my capstone in my other major; MEMS I'm pretty sure I can just take anything, especially since my honors thesis will count towards my major, in which case I could probably get away with not taking anything but why would I want to do that? -- plus I have to do my second-tier service learning requirement. Most of the public service classes aren't up yet, gah, and probably won't be for a while. If it's offered with a public service component, I'll probably end up taking persuasive writing, which, along with Chaucer, should round me out for an English minor.

next up: The Magician's Nephew

Huh. So the Powers That Be have decided that the next Narnia movie (yay!) will be The Magician's Nephew, not The Silver Chair.

If they can pull MN off, it will be gorgeous, because it's utterly unlike any of the other books and has such beautiful settings. It's so much more diverse than any of the other books, and we'll get Polly and Digory! Very exciting.

My cynical view on why they chose to do MN and not SC: they really want to get Tilda Swinton back, since she's a Big Name and she doesn't appear even tangentially in any of the other books (unless they have her play the Lady of the Green Kirtle, which, what? I heard that theory floated somewhere), and they want to make SC more of an action movie, for which they want Will Poulter to grow up a bit. But that's just me being cynical. (...oh, I just realized I really want Helena Bonham-Carter to be the Lady of the Green Kirtle. That would be awesome.)
