Consignment shops ROCK. I went down to Maple Street to go to the patisserie, and since I was down there anyway, I figured I might as well stop by Swap to check if the cashmere scarf I liked was still in. It was (nobody wants a cashmere scarf this time of year in New Orleans), and I picked up a really cute silk-blend Banana Republic sweater too. The total price: FOURTEEN BUCKS. AMAZING.

There were a couple of other things I was looking at, but I'll wait to see if they go on sale before I go back to Washington. There's this really lovely yellow skirt with white embroidery that I like; I'll check again right before I go home, or maybe during Easter Break, and if it's still there and it fits I might get it, since it's not too expensive as it is. I'm really pleased by the sweater, though. It's probably the sort of thing one has to dry clean or handwash, but I can handwash things, you know? And at seven bucks, who cares? (The scarf was six bucks. Original price at the store, $20, but it was seventy percent off, and the retail price on the tag is $50. WIN.)

I never did make it to the patisserie. I did stop by the bookshop and get a couple of books, though. I went to PJ's when I got back to campus, but...eh, not as good as the patisserie would have been, but I paid via Wavebucks and not cash.

Meanwhile, I have settled on a topic for my tutorial prospectus: fasting as a religious...er, convention? Experience? Engagement? Practice? among medieval women. ([personal profile] highlyeccentric, I am reading Holy Feast and Holy Fast. It is, indeed, fascinating. Although occasionally very disturbing.) Naturally I have to do all the reading this weekend, as the first draft is due on Wednesday. I thought I had more time! (As is the cry of many a college student this time of year. My Shakespeare final paper is due the next day, argh.)

More importantly, when I was hunting down books in the library, I stumbled across another food history section in the library. WIN SO MUCH WIN. Except that I don't have time to read any of the books right now, but hey! Next year! And now I know what the call numbers are, so I can see what Central's library has to offer when I go home.

I feel I was going to say something else, but I can't remember what it was, argh. Why is my apartment so freakishly cold? Am I hungry? I suppose I should eat something. What's on TV? Tomorrow is Crawfest and I kind of want to go, but I don't want to go by myself, but two of my roommates are vegetarians and the other one doesn't like crawfish and I lost all my phone numbers when my phone died. *sigh*

I did finally see The Borgias 1.03, though.
