bedlamsbard: miscellaneous: read (bookshelf with text "read") (read (girlyb_icons))
So today, after reading one book yesterday that was just plain eh and another book that was more bleh, I apparently decided to assuage my ruffled reader's feathers by reading half of Tamora Pierce's Tortall series. So, yeah, I read eight books today -- the entire Song of the Lioness and Immortals quartets. Well, those were the shorter ones; Protector of the Small, the Trickster books, and the Beka Cooper books all got longer. And I'll have to read the Circle of Magic and Circle Opens books too, of course.

(She hasn't put anything new out this year except that anthology, has she? I haven't gotten my hands on that one yet. Mmm, I haven't gotten hold of Malinda Lo's new book, either. Must do that.)

Maybe I shall not head straight into Kel, but instead pause and read something not Tamora Pierce for a day. *ponders bookshelves* Perhaps I should revisit Mercedes Lackey, I've still got two bookshelves that are just Lackey. And I want to read all of HP this summer as well, and Burroughs, of course, and ASoIaF, and for a change, I should probably go ahead and reread Narnia from MN to LB. It's a crazy idea, I know. Hmm, and the last of my boxes of books came in today, so I can shop from those as well -- I meant to take Havemercy, which I haven't read, on the plane but it ended up getting packed in a fit of Book Tetris. (One of the authors is Narnia fen, as well. Post-LWW, not post-PC. I wonder if she kept her fic up?) Oh, and Stirling (of course!), and I definitely want to reread the Obsidian Mountain trilogy, which probably counts as Lackey since she cowrote it. And Lynch and McKinley and Diana Wynne Jones and all the other old friends.

I think it is fair to say I am probably spoiled for choice. I haven't even got into the non-fiction yet, of which I have a giant pile to read. (The fall of the Roman Empire, the Medici, a biography of Felice della Rovere, two books on the Napoleonic wars, the gods alone know what else...and I also want to read one Shakespeare play a week, which I need to get cracking on, because my Shakespeare book only arrived today.)
