bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (the wardrobe (padabee))
Apparently, what is hiding in my closet, aside from various stuffed animals and my saxophone and a number of purses I ripped apart (...don't ask), are ALL THE BUTTON-UP SHIRTS IN THE WORLD. If I ever say that I am lacking button-up shirts, hit me upside the head.

I know, I know, button-ups are probably weird things to be legacies from high school and middle school, but I ended up with a ton of them because I wore them for band performances and music competitions. I pretty much always wore the same thing: black slacks, button-up shirt, hair up in a bun if I was feeling fancy. In high school we had band uniforms issued by the school (black trousers and white button-ups, natch, along with black cummerbunds and black bowties), but in middle school we provided our own clothes, which had to be...black slacks and white button-ups. Boys wore ties. For music competitions I usually went for color, so red or green. (This is also what I wore for, like, half my school picture days.) My bust hasn't really grown since I was in high school, so none of them are too small now -- though oddly, some are too big. *hands* counting button-ups I've bought recently, I have:

4 white button-ups
2 black button-ups
2 dark red button-ups (one with white collar and cuffs -- I stopped wearing it because somebody told me it made me look like a clown)
1 light green button-up
3 pin-striped button-ups (one purple and white, one black and silver, one brown and fawn)
2 tan/fawn button-ups (one recently thrifted)
1 bright pink button-up (recently thrifted)
1 plaid button-up (gray and purple, recently thrifted)
and one red thing which isn't really a button-up, but sort of is

SEVENTEEN BUTTON-UPS. Why do I need SEVENTEEN? At least one of the white ones will go to Goodwill, since it's too big and also makes me look like a waitress, and another one has a weird tie/button thing at the waist that I can't figure out how to use; one has really puffy sleeves, but I feel like it might be salvaged with the right vest, only I don't own a vest that isn't for warmth. (I have three of those.)

I also have a lot of coats. Two jean jackets, one of which will go to Goodwill because the sleeves are two short, one non-jean green jacket, my letter jacket from high school, and numerous winter coats, all of which appear to still fit. Also, one wool mantle/capelet. (Washington: not so much with the mild weather. See also: it's the middle of June and still sweatshirt and wood fire weather. We're going to be out of firewood soon.)

Dresses, too, but not very many of those. And then there's stuff piled on the floor that I haven't looked at yet. I really hope Totoro is in there somewhere and not in a box in the barn.
