a very quick miscellaney
Jun. 16th, 2011 11:22 pmMy definite number one source of frustration for Dust is that I wrote it in present tense, not past tense.
*
I have managed to bake a bread that tastes exactly like Cheez-its. Discuss. (Cheese foccacia with parmesan, if anyone's going to ask.)
*
I actually really love the movie Mamma Mia. Also, last night I finally saw The King's Speech (Helena Bonham-Carter is so pretty), so it's pretty much a Colin Firth party around here. I've suggested that tomorrow we watch Easy Virtue or St. Trinian's to carry on with the theme. (This probably won't happen, alas. No, I have never seen any version of Pride and Prejudice, either the Colin Firth version or the Keira Knightley version. Never read the book, either.)
*
Please never use the word "impale" or any variant thereof when writing your sexytimes. It is not sexy. It mostly makes me think of murder. Along with any variant of "strange tingle in my nether regions." Like...crabs?
(Related: today I read a book which is pretty much the definition of cotton candy reading. (Or whatever we're calling it these days.) It wasn't bad...but I'm pretty sure my brain cells could have been doing something else with their time, and I won't be picking up the sequel.)
*
I made the Dean's List last semester.
*
My anxiety's in full fling, and I expect to remain so for the next...oh, ever, actually. England, back to the States, New Orleans, senior year, grad school apps, more flying between New Orleans and Seattle and back again, roommates, school, graduation, whatever happens with grad school, just making this list makes me want to curl up in a corner and never come out. At least I'm ninety-nine percent sure that my parents will never kick me out of the house.
*
I have not yet acquired any of the books that have come out this spring/summer that I want. This is a source of great frustration to me.
*
In which my mother mixes up fandoms: "Winter is coming! The hundred year winter!" (Which is to say: it's still really cold in Ellensburg.)
I don't think Jadis would ever think up the Others/White Walkers. She has too much of a heart for that.
