to-do list
Jun. 27th, 2011 12:05 pmOkay, so, England. I am veering away from complete mental breakdown mode, which is nice. (And period-related, maybe? Gah.)
To do:
* E-mail
clanwilliam to get details of What To Do once I have arrived at Heathrow.
* Pack (which doesn't need to be done until Friday, but I need to make sure that come Friday everything that's going with me is washed).
- clothes -- two to three pairs of jeans, several skirts, at least one nice dress because there are Events that apparently I need to dress up for, shirts, jackets, at least one sweatshirt, socks, underwear, night-things, etc.
- shoes -- sneakers, sandals-with-heels, and probably the pumps, since those will go with the polka dot dress. Oh, flip-flops, for bumming around, though usually I do that in sneakers. Shower sandals?
- jewelry -- a couple of pairs of earrings and my pearl necklace should do it, I guess; I don't have much jewelry
- toiletries -- to bring shampoo/conditioner or not to bring s&c, that is the question
- books -- GRE study guide, definitely, I should probably bring Wheelock and the Aeneid and Metamorphoses, so I can at least pretend to get something thesis-related done, and something fun to read (re-read, almost definitely) on the plane. Stirling, GRRM, Lackey, or McKinley are the most likely candidates
- electronics -- computer, iPod, camera, etc. I guess I should buy a pay-as-you-go cell in England or something. Do I need a power converter?
- knitting -- materials for two pairs of socks, which is my usual rate during the school year; presumably I can always buy yarn in Cambridge
- other stuff -- umbrella, duh. I live in New Orleans, I always carry an umbrella. Sometimes I carry two, though I'll try and restrain myself this time.
* Notify my bank that I will be abroad
* Reconfirm my flight with Continental, I guess
* Er, make sure I don't forget my passport?
* Bake for parents
* Probably something else I've forgotten
If I have told you, "Hey, we should meet up when I'm in England!" as I appear to have told half of British Narnia fandom, I do indeed want to meet up! I just still don't know anything about my schedule aside from my arrival and departure dates (arriving July 3, program begins July 4, program ends August 4, leaving August 5). So when I know those, I will let y'all know. I just do not know them now.
I am so not looking forward to being in transit for another full day. Maybe I should have just sprung for the non-stop flight SEA-LHR, but it's a bit late now.
