bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (aslan's how (elec3nity))
Hi hi hi! So I was really worrying about being offline for four days during the Wessex trip, but it turns out our youth hostel has wi-fi, so THANK THE GODS I have internet. So I can live. And communicate. And, you know, other stuff.

Anyway, we have left Cambridge (tip: if you are there and you want really good food and a really giant pot of tea, go to Bill's, it's amazing. Get the green salad) and are now ensconced in a youth hostel in Cholderton. Today we went to Windsor Castle (so much gilt! so many weapons! such expensive gift shops!) and Danebury Hillfort (if you like hill forts, it's pretty nice. If you like lovely walks on top of hills with sheep and ponies, it's also pretty nice), and tomorrow we are getting up at an ungodly hour to go to Stonehenge, where we shall be allowed to enter the circle. The weather in Britain has definitely improved.

Also, today I was attacked by yoghurt and got it (a) on my (new) sweatshirt and (b) ON MY HAIR. I have no idea how it happened! I got off the bus and WHAM, yoghurt on my sweatshirt! Later, I discovered yoghurt first in one braid, then in the other, which oh my god, how? I mean, yes, I was eating yoghurt on the bus, but you'd think I'd remember getting it on myself, you know? It was on the front of my sweatshirt, on the pocket of my sweatshirt, on both sleeves, on the drawstrings, and then on the ends of both my braids. So that happened.

I am sharing a room with three other girls from my program, two of which are also in here with me on their laptops. There are also two ticking clocks in the room: I can't actually sleep with a ticking clock in the room, so this should be interesting. (Last year, my watch ticked so loud that I had to wrap it up in wool and stick it in the back of my desk drawer every night so that I couldn't hear it. And that was a watch. Watches don't tend to be particularly loud.)

In case anyone is wondering: I did in fact finish my [livejournal.com profile] narniaexchange fic and get it sent in on time, though it's not as polished as I'd like. Ah, well! Presumably now I'll be able to write the other half of whatever the last Dust chapter I was working on is, the one where I apparently freaked out part of Twitter by making a throwaway comment about garrotting a character.
