Dec. 30th, 2011 04:32 pmToday I got my hair cut! I went in with a picture of Grace Park from BSG, and it turned out more or less like that, although not with bangs, because I have a really sharply defined part and we weren't sure it would work.
Also in the mail arrived my new driver's license! I have graduated to having a HORIZONTAL driver's license, which shows at a glance that I am over 21. (Yeah, I'm 22 in January; I didn't get my license until I was 17, so if I'd gotten it when I was 16, it would have changed right at 21.) Also, yarn. (Only one skein, they sold out of the other color I wanted while I was in the process of checkout.)
Meanwhile, I have apparently started the next chapter of Dust, despite my intentions to the contrary (because of my NBB). I was inspired, whatever. The King of Archenland employs wolfpacks as foresters and to dissuade/hunt down poachers in the royal forests. /random worldbuilding factoid.
I'm very slowly going through Book III of The Faerie Queene and making note of things that are relevant to my thesis. (Slight problem: I told two different advisers two different topics.) I am -- not entirely sanguine about my ability to actually pull off a thesis, as I need two-thirds of one by January, I think, 25, and right now I don't even have a topic. (I have two broad and only somewhat related areas of interest.) I have basically been serving as a fine example of how not to write an honors thesis.
Got really into this audiobook (Cassandra Clare's Clockwork Angel). I'm not used to listening to books on audiobook, rather than reading them, but I couldn't get hold of this one immediately, so this is a really interesting experience, although I wish I was knitting during it rather than playing endless games of solitaire. (But my win percentage is up to 13%.) Also, I love the MC. (Fandom dinosaur -- eh, not a dinosaur, maybe I'm just like a sabre-toothed cat or something -- moment: I was in fandom not just when the DT was still online, I was in fandom when Draco Veritas was still being updated. 50K chapters, y'all. It was amazing.)
And -- that is the state of me! I am slowly working through the backlog of feedback on Dust 26, now that some of the trauma has faded. (I can get very emotional very fast. It's not a good combo.) I have checked LB for canon more times in the past week than I have in the past three years. (For BW, not for Dust. I'm still not feeling particularly sanguine about my ability to get BW done by the deadline either, since I think the NBB deadline is about two days off my thesis deadline.)
