I'm pretty sure Accommodation's goal this year is to drive me insane and/or possibly homicidal, since apparently Shop@le did not deign to tell them that (a) I paid for my vacation booking or (b) that I made a vacation booking, which they informed me of -- well, first via a slightly confused looking (I assume?) RA who was like, "Are you supposed to be here?" when I opened the door, and then today by a note slipped under my door asking for a receipt to verify that I paid. Which I did! Or at least I have the receipt, even if my bank won't let me onto their website to check that it went through. (I really dislike my bank's website, and I'm afraid to push it because I have, before, been locked out of my online account and had to call the bank to make them let me back in. And right now, since I'm abroad and there's an extreme time difference, I can't call if it happens again.)

Of course, by the time that I got the e-mail with the receipt in printed and went down to the Opal office to show that I had, in fact, paid, the office was already closed. *sigh* I'll go down in the morning and hope the manager's there. Or that anyone is there; that office is supposedly to be constantly manned when it's open but it's actually not. I've got e-mails to back up that I made a booking, that I paid for it, and that I was allocated a room, so that's good. Hopefully this can get quickly sorted out.

I keep getting what I assume are dehydration headaches, which right now means that I'm pretty much constantly drinking water. Fortunately I am not one of those people who does not like water.

I also have a lingering sore throat on and off; I can't tell if that's related or not. Boo. I've been taking Benadryl because I've been having allergy symptoms on and off over the past week or so too, so it also might be that, but I just don't know.

I'm currently going through an "EAT ALL THE RASPBERRIES" phase, which can get a little expensive if I get them at the grocery store, so I've been trying to get them at the Leicester Outdoor Market if I can, since raspberries at the grocery store cost almost twice to three times as much as they do at the market. Plus, I love shopping at the market, it's so...um, rustic. Which sounds weird to say given that I live in a major urban area. Ahem, it is the largest covered market in EUROPE and it is seven hundred years old and. I don't go to the butcher stalls in the indoor market, but I might start, since I just read a book that has me sort of sideeyeing the meat industry.

(Which I won't go into, but it's interesting reading that sort of thing given where I grew up -- I grew up in the kind of community where it was perfectly reasonable for a parent group to auction off half a cow -- or was it half a hog? -- to raise money for new band uniforms, and I knew a lot of kids who basically made their college money by raising beef cows or hogs to auction off at the end of the year. I did not -- but I knew people who did.)

I keep reading pretty mediocre fiction books and I am IRATE. I am still trucking through the current one, since I paid full price for it, but it's not going home for me.
