Feb. 18th, 2015 08:09 pmThe heat has been out in my apartment for the past week, which is just as much fun as it sounds. Like, this is New Orleans so it's not completely miserable, but the temperature in the city dropped last night so the temperature in my apartment has been hovering around the 60 F mark. It was doable at 67, unhappy at 63; lower than that and I am just incredibly unhappy. (I usually keep the temperature around 73-75; I run cold (I don't have particularly good circulation, I think) and I hate being cold.) I did finally manage to file a maintenance request, though, so hopefully it gets fixed soon.

I didn't manage to do the Wednesday reading meme last week because I was in chapter edits and posting craziness, so this is for the past two weeks. But I didn't reach much anyway.
What I've just finished reading
The Beacons of Alexandria by Gillian Bradshaw, which I started last year and didn't get around to finishing until recently. It was interesting, a nice look at the Later Roman Empire. I sometimes get confused with stuff set after the focus of empire moves from Rome to Constantinople, though I think that's just me and my research biases.
The Death of the Necromancer by Martha Wells, which was a reread.
In comics Marvel's Darth Vader by Kieron Gillen, art by Salvador Larocca, came out last week and it was so good I pretty much had a complete meltdown while liveblogging.
What I'm currently reading
I kept starting stuff and not focusing on any one thing, which. *shrug*
Purse books are Star Wars: X-Wing: The Krytos Trap by Michael Stackpole and The Circle of the Moon by Barbara Hambly (reread), on my phone is Star Wars: Empire and Rebellion: Razor's Edge by Martha Wells (reread). Ebooks are The Wheel of the Infinite by Martha Wells (reread) and The Rainbow Abyss by Barbara Hambly. In audiobook I'm still on The Element of Fire by Martha Wells.
What I'm reading next
I've got high hopes for finishing one of those books in progress. I do suspect that ebook reading's going to switch back to the Raksura books, though. (Comfort reading, I have trouble focusing on new stuff during the term.)
