Oct. 1st, 2015 09:41 pmI am still sick -- it's mostly a sore throat at the moment, but it's distressing enough that I'm not dealing with being sick particularly well -- so I hauled myself up to campus for my one Thursday class and then cancelled my office hours so I could go straight home afterwards. Which may have been a mistake, since one of my students wants to meet with me; hopefully I am not the walking dead tomorrow and that will go fine. Hopefully there aren't any other grad students in the office tomorrow (we share; I'm usually only in there for an hour on Thursdays).
This is the worst sore throat I have ever had -- my breathing's clear, I can talk, though you can tell that I'm having problems, it just hurts to swallow and I never realized how often I swallow until now. (Also, I guess right now if I swallow I can also feel it all the way up into my left ear. FUN FUN.) Though, like, food is fine? Hot drinks are fine, so I've been drinking heavily honeyed tea all day. Anything cold stings and fucking hurts. I'm alternating ibuprofen and acetaminophen and doing a salt-water gargle in the evening before letting Nyquil knock me out, because the two nights when I didn't I woke up every couple of hours. I am more annoyed than anything, but I don't deal really with being in pain or being sick or with anything disrupting my routine. Oh, and to make this extra fun, I've also got a canker sore right now, so my mouth is not a fun place at the moment.
(Sure, I could and probably should go to the student health center, but I'd rather hope that it goes away on its own. My survival instincts are not the best.)
