I LIVE! (I'm just not on DW very much)
Aug. 7th, 2018 06:47 pmAlso I'm currently living alone, since my housemate moved out to move in with her fiancee, though I have another housemate arriving in two weeks. (International student who's just here for the semester, if I can not pay full rent for four months that would be great; I need that money for Star Wars Celebration Chicago.)
hmm, five things make a post:
1. I'm finishing my last week of summer term; I took German for reading comprehension to fill one of my (four!) language requirements, and so far it's been surprisingly painless. It's all grad students except for one undergrad, with a professor who's about the same age as most of us, which is kind of an interesting experience in and of itself as I get older.
2. I'm still like...pretty seriously depressed, though it's not as bad at the moment as it was back in March, which is the worst it's ever been in my entire life including in the immediate months after my breakup.
3. I'm still in Georgia! It's been trying to kill me! I got caught in the rain and soaked through twice in three days back in July in a way that I haven't been since I was an undergrad in New Orleans; within a week of my housemate moving out: the porch light went out, the light in my room went out, the toaster broke, my new electric kettle malfunctioned (auto-shutoff didn't work), and then to add insult to injury the zipper on my $300 Dooney & Bourke Star Wars purse broke. Oh, and I got 30-40 bug bites on my feet and ankles from mystery bugs that I still have never seen and which have apparently never been here in the five years my former housemate lived here. Most recently: two nights ago there was a horrendous crash that shook the house; since I'd been moving books around I thought something had collapsed, but everything in the house was fine. I took a flashlight out to see if it was something around the house, couldn't see anything. The next day, I discovered that a huge branch from the tree in the front yard had broken off and missed the house by, oh, maybe a yard. And by "the house" I mean "my room."
4. AT&T has also been a nightmare; amidst switching over the utilities from my housemate to me, we also tried to just switch over the internet, which apparently you can do only if you get the right person on the phone. We...did not, they did something horrendously complicated, a tech came out thinking he was going to do something I did not want and very kindly spent three hours on the phone with various customer service people while I sat on the couch, occasionally provided personal information, and tried not to cry. A week after that a different tech came out and now I have internet in my own name -- horrendously expensive internet, since we have fiber, but since I live on the internet that's probably for the best. And A. will be here in two weeks to help pay for it for the next four months, at least.
5. I still really hate Atlanta.
