Semi-Pro. I think I just lost brain cells watching this trailer. STUPID.

The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything. Oh look. More brain cells. *waves as they run away*

Strange Wilderness. I may lose brain cells, but at least I'll have fun doing it! Looks funny, at least.

Look. Okay, disturbing. It actually looks pretty good, but disturbing at the same time, and not because of the content.

The Amateurs. I kind of like it. Funny, but with that undershade of seriousness, you know? Or something.

Quiet City. I kind of like it. It's not the sort of thing I'd watch, but it's cute and sweet and quiet and understated.

The Orphanage. Well, it creeps me out, and it looks like it's a good movie doing it. And Guillermo del Toro, so.

The Signal. Also creepy, although in a much less understated way. The teaser is a hell of a lot creepier than the trailer.

Hancock. AHAHAHAHAHA. I love it. It's Will Smith, and it's Will Smith being the worst superhero ever. AWESOME.

Wall-E. Okay. I get that it's Disney, and I get that it's supposed to be funny that there's a robot that's been doing the same thing for 700 years. Am I the only one who's kind of traumatized over the fact that it's a robot who's been doing the same thing for 700 years in humanity's detritus? Trauma!

Wall-E is my MOST ANTICIPATED MOVIE OF 2008.

okay, total lie. prince caspian, star trek, cloverfield, and speed racer are all totally on top of it. but, but! MOST ANTICIPATED ANIMATED movie, for sure.

Prince Caspian. Hands down. Forget graduation, I can't wait for Prince Caspian!

(I should probably stop saying that.)

I read a review of "The Orphanage" somewhere -- the Phoenix or the Globe -- that said it was awesome and deeply disturbing and a proper horror movie. (ie, not a glorified snuff flick).

Wall-E looks demented and cute. And humanity? Has a whole lot of detritus. Wall-E reminds me a bit of that little -- oven guy in "Wallace and Gromit: A Grand Day Out". The one who wanted to go skiing.

... no, no, I'm sorry, but graduation ranks SO MUCH HIGHER than Prince Caspian.

*waves hand* Yes, yes, but Prince Caspian, for some reason, seems a lot more believable than graduation.

It looks deeply disturbing.

For some reason, I just know Wall-E is going to traumatize me, probably because I'm looking too deeply into it. I mean -- *waves hands* I can't even. Humanity's detritus, leaving behind -- this. Nothing. Just garbage. I don't know.

Bacteria in a petri dish, as my dad always refers to humanity. Eventually, the waste product will overwhelm the dish.

...you're not helping. That's not quite -- I don't know. It's hard to verbalize what bothers me so much.

What, that we left the earth as a giant junkyard, moving on to bigger and better things, leaving behind wonderbras and SUVs to a lonely robot who's wondering when his humans will return?

No. It's that -- we leave and that's all we leave behind, garbage? Not...I don't know, the Statue of Liberty or the Great Wall or the Pyramids or Mt. Rushmore? Just...garbage?

I think I'm looking into this too deeply.

We left those behind, too, we just covered them in garbage.

Totally want to see 'The Orphanage'. But then, I'd watch anything with Guillermo del Toro's name attached to it. 'Pan's Labyrinth' was one of the most compelling films I've ever seen, and if there's anything that film, along with the rest of his oeuvre, has shown it's that he knows how to give good creepiness.
