Well, Peter's of an age to want to fight. I mean, his home is being attacked, for God's sake! Literally! If it was WWI, he probably already would have (illegaly, underage) enlisted, but by WWII they cracked down on that. (I checked. *cough*) Boys he knows, boys a few years older than him, are already in the war; they're being drafted. In a few years, Peter's going to be too, if the war's not over by then.
*laughs* Right before I got into Narnia, I was working on my original novel, which is military sci-fi, for my senior project, which was about how research is important in genre fiction. And so all I read, for eight months, was military history and military memoirs. I am thrilled to see it translates to writing fantasy too.
