knitting knews
Aug. 3rd, 2008 12:43 pmSome of you, upon seeing this pattern, will think, "Oh, Gryffindor! How awesome!"
Some of you, being me, look at that pattern and think, "Oh, Narnia! How awesome!"
I am going to teach myself Fair Isle just to knit that. I will have alter the pattern a bit, of course, so that it is a gold lion on a red background. (In which the movies deviated from the books, but OH WELL. Gold lion on red: so much cooler than red lion on green. Christmas colors what?) I have Cascade 220 wool in red and gold for this. (Okay, they actually have different names, but you know what I mean.)

I'm making another scarf out of Noro Silk Garden, for my grandmother, and oh my god Noro Silk Garden. I may be spoiled for ordinary yarn after this.

And you remind me that there is a good-sized store in Salem which is devoted entirely to yarn. You should come visit! Or something.
