bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (the die hard way (likefluffy))

This is how you can tell what TV shows I've been watching: Edmund and Peter MacGuyvering it up (The Unit), Edmund and Peter rockclimbing (Numb3rs).

HUH. I WONDER IF I CAN PUT THAT IN SOMEWHERE.

*muses* Plus some sweet hand-to-hand and weapons-stealing. You know. For fun.

Oooh! Peter and Edmund rock climbing! I can so totally see that! And someone (Tirian, Caspian, Eustace?) looking up at them and tell them to 'get the hell down from there before they break their necks!' and they are just 'O rily?'

Meanwhile, on the ground, Susan and Lucy are calmly either changing into breeches or kilting up their skirts to follow them up. Huh. Maybe this is how they get into Cair Paravel V.2.0...

Now, the question is -- keep Tirian, Jill, and Eustace on the ground or take them up with them?

Didn't we learn when taking Caspian on the Castle Raid? At least keep Tirian on the ground. I'm thinking Peter will refuse to take him with. Tirian askes why? 'you seem even stupider than Caspian...'

He is going to let slip with that at some point; he and Edmund have been bitching about this Narnia versus Caspian's Narnia already...

Especially considering that all he did in the fight in Ch. 1 was shove Tirian down and tell him not to move, and Tirian never even protested.

NEEDS TO BE DONE. macguyvering is in fact completely necessary.

Well, Jill and Eustace are at least minorly useful as long-distance archers. Tirian, on the other hand, can be told to stay with the equivalent of the baggage. Or at home.

MacGuyvering is totally necessary. "And then we built a catapult out of a few twigs and Su's hair ties!"

Well, Tirian can fight; I just think that it's still his first thought that he shouldn't have to.

...essentially, he's an upper-class officer from WW1. (as opposed to royalty who you normally have to yank from the battlefield by the scruff of their necks since they're making whoever they're with a target)

Pretty much, yeah. But the target thing too; the Calormenes would really like the king of Narnia dead. The Narnians would really like that cowardly traitorous bastard who calls himself the king of Narnia dead.

Once he and the Pevensies actually have a chance to talk, they're going to have words.

...are you sure we can't use him as bait? It would so pacify the narnians. And keep everyone amused.

Susan : 'Peter, you can't keep leaving Tirian to wander around near the Calormene encampment just to draw them out so the archers can have target practice.'
Peter : 'He wanted to be useful. It's the best way.'
Susan : 'The problem is that last time he nearly bled out because one of our side had a hunting accident and clipped one of his arteries.'
Peter : 'Still not seeing a downside.'
Susan : 'Lucy had to use cordial on him. She was very put out, since that means one less drop she could possibly use on someone else in the future.'
Peter : 'I see her point, waste of resources *is* bad. Note to self : teach Tirian to duck.'

:snicker: I find this whole royalty thing rather amusing, because our royalty are generally reckoned to be quite *good* soldiers (especially if you chuck them in a helicopter). Tirian : could get beaten up by Prince Charles.

*snort* Peter keeps going, "And I thought Caspian was bad."
Susan: "Can you please stop comparing him to Caspian?"
Peter: "Why?"
Susan: "Well, for one thing, you slept with Caspian.
Peter: "What does that have to do with anything? And how does everyone know that? I didn't tell anyone. Caspian didn't tell anyone."
Edmund: "He told me."
Susan: "After fifteen years of seeing the type of men you sleep with --"
Tirian: "You slept with Caspian the Seafarer?"
Peter: "Not recently. Oh, don't look so worried, I don't want to sleep with you."
Tirian: "..."
Susan: "I don't think he's worried."

Oh, brain-breaking of Tirian is way too much fun.

:curious: So precisely what are Peter's criteria for shaggable? I presume a vague notion of competency is one of them.

Competency is one thing Peter's highly attracted to. So is the ability to kill things without too much trouble. Smart and funny are pluses. He also prefers them older than him. And he likes it when they're not intimidated by him. They've also got to be able to put the bedroom aside when they're out in the field and follow his orders without question.
