Is Jewel the Unicorn male or female? I really honestly do not remember.

Seriously, I hate to ask this, because this is the sort of thing that should be Generally Known, but APPARENTLY NOT IN BEDLAM LAND.

Male. Definitely male, judging by one cover illustration.

So much so that a Brazilian translation renamed him "Precioso" (*shudder*), perhaps because the Portuguese word for jewel is feminine. Having Tirian call his best bud "Precious" all the time makes the subtext even more unsettling.

Not the unicorns that showed up in Constellated, those unicorns had badass names. But I'm wondering if anyone's going to pick up on the nomenclature in Dust as opposed to the rest of my Narnia fics...even if I am pulling it out of a space that is also known as "thin air."
