bedlamsbard: natasha romanoff from the black widow prelude comic (the die hard way (likefluffy))
[personal profile] bedlamsbard
Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] scarletts_awry. Fandom preference here is Narnia.

Name three fics you think I will never, ever, ever write. In return (and if inspired), I will attempt to write a snippet of one of them.

ETA: Snippets will be in a later post.

Something like "Susan and Caspian babyfic", "Peter and Edmund rescue puppies", "Peter betrays Narnia" -- short scenarios or prompts, that sort of thing.

Ohhh, I see.

Ummmm.....

(1) Peter forgets Narnia COMPLETELY (a la Susan in the books)

(2) Lucy is a happy little child

(3) Uhhhhh, something about Edmund? /badidea

*arches eyebrows* You're going to have to be more specific about #3, I write Edmund all the time.

1) Peter total angst free.

(You know what? I can't actually come up with anything else, because your brain is good at coming up with crack that I can't see anything that you would *never* write. I'm sure you could if you were inspired.)

I would like to see some Peter/Lucy though, I'm not sure if you've ever written them?

1) 'Merlin' fic.
2) Epic badfic (spelling and grammar optional)
3) Peter has no idea how to run a kingdom or win a battle. Wait, though, that could plausibly be right after LWW, while he's still learning the ropes and now I really wanna see your take on young!King!Peter! *puppy eyes*

Peter totally angst free is what I also like to call Peta. *g* Before the angst kicks in, I mean.

I've written Peter&Lucy, I've never written Peter/Lucy; I don't really have that good a hold on her personality.

1. So the Narnia crossover doesn't count, then?
2. HA! I like my brain in one piece, thanks.
3. I have written young!Peter, actually! Said story just has not seen the light of the Internet because one, it has severe structual problems, and, two, I may have fucked with the Warsverse timeline since I wrote it, so now it's misplaced, timeline-wise. (This would be "Till Human Voices Wake Us", the story about Narnia's worst military loss in the entire Golden Age, where Peter got a third of his army and very nearly himself slaughtered. Here, I shall quote, and then I shall write you Merlin later.
“Silence!” he yells, when there’s nothing left but the screams. “SILENCE!” His voice cracks on the second syllable, which is neither kingly or general-like, and he curses himself silently and wishes for the day when his command voice will actually sound commanding, instead of a boy playing dress-up.

It takes a few minutes for the screams to die down to muffled sobs, and in those few minutes Peter hears his own breath torn from his throat, ragged and gasping and raw with fear he chokes down on. Someone relights one of the extinguished torches, and he’s suddenly aware of the mist before his eyes; he tugs off one gauntlet to wipe them clear. His fingers come away the almost-black of blood in faint torchlight, and wet.

“Your majesty?” his second says quietly.

“How many people have we lost?” Peter asks, because there’s no way that didn’t come with casualties. “How deep –”

His aides pass the question back through the army; as they do so, the mountain grumbles again over them and Peter forces down blind panic. There is still a part of him that screams, but I’m only a kid!

“No,” he whispers to himself. “No, you are the High King of Narnia, and by God you will act like it.

This is hard, but I just realized that though you've genderswitched Peter and Edmund, you haven't done it to any of the girls. I'd like to see what boy!Susan and/or boy!Lucy would be like. Also what would a girl-Caspian think of this boy-Susan? (genderfuck is way too interesting to me...)

The closest I've come to genderswitching Caspian is here (http://lassiterfics.livejournal.com/66387.html?thread=758867#t758867), where I determined that girl!Caspian would be utterly and completely useless.

1. Peter kills one of his siblings.
2. Peter/Lucy.
3. Peter willingly chooses to leave Narnia and never come back.

Oooh, since #2's already been done.... erm...

2. One of the other Pevensies is chosen to have the bond with Narnia instead of Peter. Dunno why that would happen, but I think it'd be really interesting!

i may have figured out how to fix the structural problems, though. although they lead to completely different structural problems and also require me to write bits from susan and edmund's pov. i just don't want to throw all of peter's pov out there, you know? 'cause then it kind of feels like it's lacking something. like a story.

structural problems like what? i thought all you needed to more to write was about edmund burning out the caves and everyone being all, "well that sucked," but they are kings and queens so they move on 'cos they've got a country to rule?

well, i think i want to tell three separate stories: peter's, in the caves; susan's, when they're in the caves looking for the army; and edmund's, afterwards when peter's in his coma (this is when he burns out the caves). and maybe lucy as framing, when they bring her in to use her cordial on peter. problem is working it all together into one coherent whole. oh, and writing the other three parts. that bit's important too.

HORRIBLE DISEASE. no, because i can't just leave it the way it is, it feels incomplete. i don't know; this is the only idea i have. the other option is cutting out peter's pov entirely and telling the entire story from edmund's pov, so we never know exactly what went down in the caves, but i like the peter pov.

Any of the Pevensies break down in public.
Edmund being utterly selfish and ignoring the needs of the kingdom.
Peter or Lucy in the state of 'can't be arsed to fight'.

I want Edmund, the King of Shadows, Narnian Mata Hari extraordinaire...in drag, on a mission. :)

I want his eyes lined with kohl, and his lips painted scarlet, and little flowers strewn through his tousled hair, and he's so damn PRETTY that nobody realizes he's got a stiletto tucked into his bosom, or wonders why he's asking certain questions...

Imagine Peter's reaction when Edmund comes storming into his study with urgent news, forgetting his rig...

You KNOW I want Peter/Edmund! First time is best, but I'll take established, if necessary. *laughs*

Hmmm...for my second prompt...

Susan and the Minotaur. Remember that conversation we had about everyone at the wedding getting caught up in the hallucinogenic-created frenzy and dropping in the field to have sex with the nearest partner?

Susan's pov, during the experience and waking up after...

And finally...*thinks hard*

Lucy, blinded...how she copes, especially with the fact that she can no longer see Aslan and *really* has to go on blind faith...
