[livejournal.com profile] cupiscent and I ruminate on Prince Caspian: The Musical!

NO, REALLY. COME BACK. STOP RUNNING.

Think about it!

(Because apparently I couldn't sink any lower without bodyswitching -- wait, never mind, been there, done that -- mpreg -- does Peta count? -- and wingfic -- I don't think I've actually written any wingfic. Huh. Werewolves, yes, wingfic, no. Am I missing anything?)

ETA: You people are all insane. I mean, I love you despite your flaws, but still.

*considers*

would there be anything hotter than Bedlam!wingfic?

There might. It would have to compete with [livejournal.com profile] fahye, for example. But it'd be a close call...

Also Trojie wrote me a script for PC the musical here... ;)

The sad thing is that I have actually written wingfic in CSI:NY, and it is, uh, somewhat more likely in Narnia?

Wait. There was that time I turned Susan into a swan, does that count?

You turned Susan into a swan?

I think it counts, swans seem to come up fairly regularly in wing!fic. Not my side of the kink, as my taste runs to the angelic and/or demonic, but it happens.

Yes. It's in the Warsverse timeline somewhere.

You just know that this is somehow going to turn into me writing actual wingfic. *groans*

You know, I should probably add that this is somehow going to end up in a vaguely crime noir AU with Peter as a private investigator.

Really, the main question here comes down to, "Who is Peter having sex with this time?"

WINGFIC! I love wingfic! If you wrote it, omg, I would pledge my undying love.

also, is wingfic an actual phenomenon? I remember it as a small HP-confined movement a few years ago.

Wingfic's easy: you only have to push the chronology on as far as Dawn Treader and then you have Eustace.

Although possibly that's a bit too canon for crackfic.

Well, Caspian (or at least his body double) can sing, so that'll help the musical along considerably. I wonder how proficient the Pevensies are? There's bound to be at least one character in it who either gets struck dumb for the duration, or has to resort to speak-singing though.

It is an actual phenomenon, as far as I know, and has shown up in multiple fandoms since.

Never did actually see it in HP, though.

mmmm. Wiiiiiiiings. (I did three projects where I found an excuse to paint/draw/photograph with wings/angel/implied wings when I was still at school and college.) Mine were more hawk/pigeon in design, though. probably because of the sheer amount of anatomy I studied to make those wings look like they were big and real enough to support a human - and it's still disturbing that the best references in art I found? Superhero comics.

every fandom I've seen has had it somewhere. Puppies (aka the Nsync-Backstreet boys etc) had an entire archive devoted to it, SGA, Sentinel, Professionals, Bandom, QAF UK, the list goes on. SGA is possibly the only one where it wasn't regarded as the epitomy of crack!fic, but then SGA decided mainlining crack early on was right and necessary. There was the one where they were ice cubes. *in character* ice cubes.

you may laugh. there's the one that came before it where they were ginger biscuits in a tin. The one where they were cats, the irish professors one, the vulcanologist, the maine premium beer one, the one where just *one* of them was a cat - and that one wasn't an AU like the others. For some reason, no matter what you chuck at them, and the weirder the premise you chuck at them, it's actually easier to keep them in character than some of the canon-based fic.

Essentially, the human race has always wanted to fly and wings are incredibly fucking pretty. Plus, feathers = v. nice to stroke. And the possibilities for potential angst if someone can't use them, or if they get damaged/cut off? ENDLESS.

oh, believe me, I understand the appeal. if you have read losselen's wingfic I don't know how one could not. the whole thing has endless Icarus symbolism! a sign for being different, empowered, fragile, beautiful, natural, supernatural, human vs animal, yes flight in escape and in transcendence. I love it all.
