Because I just love those moments when my brain drops bits of Warsverse history on me. This one having to do with Peter's spectacularly bad taste in men, or at least his proclivity for sleeping with people who want to kill him. (I think it's Edmund who floats the idea that Peter actually knows they want to kill him, he's just always hoping he'll be proven wrong.)

This one doesn't want to kill Peter. This one wants Peter to kill his siblings.

I think we can all guess just about how well this is going to end.

(To be fair, not everyone Peter sleeps with wants to kill him and/or take over his country. It's just that the numbers tend to add up after a while. Osumare Seaworth, for example. He never wanted to or tried to kill Peter. I mean, he pretty much shoved Narnia into a war that could easily have destroyed the entire country, but that was mostly just an accident. There are some other people too, but they're just names on a page at the moment; no personality or story yet.

...suddenly I want the story where Corin of Archenland tries to seduce Peter, which is probably right before HHB. I mean, it's not all that smart to send your ward, crown prince of a neighboring country, into a more-or-less unfriendly country. And Peter did pretty much flee for the North and the giants... Keyword here being tries; Peter's reaction is pretty much something along the lines of "OH HELL NO" because contrary to what his siblings say, he's not completely stupid. And Corin's not his type. It's not the political ramifications he's worried about.)

Perhaps Peter subconsciously hopes they'll kill him and thus free him from Narnia...? I'd investigate the mood he's in when he hooks up with which people.

I don't think he's that desperate.

Upcoming fic: the one in which two separate groups of people try to kill Peter in the same night. That incident doesn't do much for his psyche.

Lewis's timeline puts HHB at the year before the White Stag incident (if my memory serves me right; if it doesn't, well, that's how it got timed out in the Warsverse) so Peter is actually 28 or 29. And we don't know Corin's age, but I wouldn't put him past 14 or 15 at most.

"He might try Susan's, though."

"Well, that's her problem. If I have to fight one more bloody tournament, I'm going to...go start a war."

"You are going to go start a war."

"It's been brewing for fourteen years now! So I'm not really...starting it."

"YOU IDIOT."

Must Be Tuesday -- the WIP with the assassination attempts -- is kind of interesting, because one of the attempts is personal (and is, uh, one of his lovers, who tries to kill him in bed -- Peter drinks heavily) and one is just business. Except for the fact that they got one of his bodyguards to betray him.

Peter is pissed, and then he's depressed, and Edmund is going, "Dude, get OUT of the room with the FOUR DEAD BODIES."

He is not tempted mostly because if his siblings died, Peter would have to rule Narnia all by himself, and he has had ENOUGH of that, thank you very much. Also because he loves his siblings.

It ends badly. Probably in either exiles or executions.

i want uther and lune throwing down. possibly miraz, too.

...not sure why, though.

there is so much crazy in the warsverse! for example, the hour plus i spent in my natural disasters class writing peter/susan pegging. my trauma, it could not be quantified, and yet my pen kept moving.

susan is very aggressive, for those wondering. *stares at ceiling* my prof was talking about earthquakes, i got that much out of the class.

To be fair, I think my Cor and Corin are slightly older -- probably around thirteen or fourteen by HHB. *checks*

WHOA. I DID NOT REALIZE THAT THERE WAS DESCRIPTION OF CALORMENE ARMS AND ARMOR IN HHB. I mean, of course this changes by sixteen hundred years later, but what, I am distracted now, crap, I may have to rethink the entire strategy depending on what HHB says.

Note to self: reread HHB.

and uther is like, "yes, it was unfortunate but nothing we couldn't handle." he smiles an unctuous smile and continues, "we can handle quite a lot, as you know."

By doing some very fast and loose math with the vague dates in HHB and Lewis's timeline, Cor and Corin are fourteen in HHB.

Of course, in "In a Dry Month" Peter is all of fifteen (maybe sixteen) and Osumare Seaworth is twenty-eight. I'm just saying. *shrug*

Corin has nothing going for him, though.

I get out of this by very seldom dropping actual ages and just dropping the number of years into the Golden Age. Which kind of negates the awkwardness, because the ages in Narnia are one of those things that's up for debate.

You know, when you're Peter and your usual type happens to be very competent warrior types, the young prince of Archenland is not really up to standard.

Hmmm, that does make sense. I always thought their reign was unusually short anyways. I mean, sure, there were always kings and such (like Cambyses?) who didn't last very long, but with the kind of awesomeness of pwnful!Pevensies they had it OUGHT to have lasted much longer, Aslan be damned.

Although I don't feel that way; my assumption is that the fifteen years of the Golden Age might not necessarily be as great as it seems to be thirteen hundred years later, but bracketed as it is by the Long Winter and the Dying Times, it looks really freaking good. And my Golden Age actually was pretty good, of course -- aside from the constant warfare.
