At least no one can check? Since none of the Royal Guard reports that survived say, "Today I walked in on the High King shagging Queen Susan on a table in the library. Humans are weird," given that the Royal Guard knows how to keep their mouths quiet.
Working it into the narrative is a little awkward in this chapter, but there's a possibility it may come out later that Susan was lying through her teeth about that, at least.
