Lucy and mines... She really would seem the type to go explore such places wouldn't she? It's an adventure, in a way.
I wonder how Rabadash managed to not fall flat on his face considering the amount of diamonds he wore (and how heavy they would have been) when he came to court Susan.

I love the reference to the Underland (the "World Below" sounds much cooler). It's interesting to see that it was a legend told in Lucy's time and now she knows it's real. In a way, it's kind of similar to how the Narnians view the Pevensies: legends that became reality. Out of curiousity, since Narnia was able to give Peter a brief impression of how big the old mine was, would it be able to tell him a bit about the Underland as well?
But of course, they wouldn’t be here if he didn’t want it. Nothing happens in Narnia without Aslan knowing, she’s sure of it.
I guess a bit of time has mellowed Lucy's original view about their return at the start of Dust. Not as if it would have mattered -- there's still no way to return to England even if they wanted to leave Narnia.
"Queen Lucy Wound-binder" -- I kinda like that epithet. And I agree with Lu, it's a nicer one than some of the others she's collected. :-)
Awww. Elin warms up to Mayor. That is such an adorable visual! He's not just a macho gangster after all! And I love his comments about Susan and Peter -- the sense of a squirrel indeed. And he even lets her ride him back to the surface. Aww.
And Eustace! I was wondering about him. Good to see that he's recovering nicely after the battle.
The last lines about Lucy and the emptiness of the mine makes me sad too. But at least she did see Aslan, in a way. And he led her to what she was supposed to find, so I think it should be a small comfort to her that perhaps he really did send the Pevensies back to Narnia to save it. He was never one that would give people straight answers, so why would he start now?
