bedlamsbardSo far three of my five boxes of books have arrived. My dad goes through my boxes and picks out the books he wants to read -- seriously, this family, we don't need to go to the library or the bookstore, we can just go through the boxes of books I ship home from university. (My dad and I have pretty similar tastes in nonfiction, at least of the historical type.) Of course, then he says things like, "Katrina! This book looks like something you'd enjoy!" "Yes, Dad, that's why I bought it." *eyeroll*
In other book-related news, today I read two books, Behemoth (Scott Westerfeld) and Copperhead (Bernard Cornwell). I shall talk about Behemoth and Leviathan in a bit; Copperhead is one of those cases where my home library has the second two books in the trilogy and my uni library has the first, so that's always fun to juggle the scheduling of reading. (Actually, I hope they have the third book in the trilogy, since it wasn't in when I was at the library yesterday. This could be very unfortunate. *sighs*) It's all very classic Cornwell, just set during the Civil War. Also...was that Sharpe's son that Starbuck hooked up with?
(Yes. The first thing I did when I got back into town was go to the library. Isn't that the first thing you do when you come home? I also went to Goodwill and bought a book, narrowly restraining myself from buying four books instead of just one, since I'm pretty sure the library had all the other books I had my eye on.)
At some point, I want to write fic. I am working, a bit slowly because I'm not as sure where I'm going, on the third Rilian story (where he has to study ART HISTORY. In the fourth one he shall study MUSIC). Am not sure what the next chapter of Dust will be, but I have vague ideas for the third Jill story, a Rilian story set after SC, and Jaisen Ettore's origin story. (Jaisen Ettore is another one of the strays picked up in the Golden Age, like Fiorenza Paolucci and Osumare Seaworth.)
