Feb. 13th, 2006 06:26 pmOkay, so I'm applying for this three-week summer program at Stanford University (yes, the one in California). And the courses I'm applying for (you can only do one, for three weeks) are Particle Physics, Theory of Relativity, Creative Writing, Investigations in Humanities: Renaissance and Classical, Investigations in Humanities: Film, and Music Theory.
My mom doesn't want me to do Music Theory.
In fact, she says that if I only get accepted to Music Theory, she won't let me go, because she doesn't want to send me to Stanford for Music Theory. We've been arguing about this for the past two days. She says I don't practice enough to actually be dedicated to music, especially since I don't plan to be a professional musician.
Okay, so the plan of Double Major Music Theory/Ed-Anthropology doesn't mean much to her. (She says you can't make a living being a music teacher)
*headdesk*
I play five instruments, in four different ensembles, take three sets of private lessons, playing three Solo Ensemble pieces, got a II, a I-, and FIRST ALTERNATE FOR STATE, and I'm not dedicated to music? What the fuck? I want to take music theory.
Of course, the chances I'll get turned down to all the others is slim to none, so it's probably a moot point, but GRR!
