Sep. 4th, 2011 01:07 pmThe good news is I finally have groceries, so I won't starve! The bad news is I forgot to buy FREAKING SALT, so I can't make anything. I am sure I can acquire some from MacMart (the on-campus sort-of grocery store) or filch it from the food court, and then go up to Whole Foods to stock up on the rest of the things I forgot or have specific brands I prefer on Tuesday, when Tropical Storm Lee has moved on with his life (PLEASE GODS), since I definitely prefer kosher salt to regular table salt. (I also forgot heavy cream and frozen berries, but remembered Better than Bouillon -- it's really not practical for me to make chicken stock from scratch right now -- and soy sauce. Which I guess could substitute for the salt in some dishes, heh, but not in bread.)
See, I did make a grocery list, but then I just didn't look at it. *facepalm* Don't grow up to be me, people! It doesn't help that I wasn't at my usual store, so I wasn't looking in the places I'd usually be and I wasn't getting most of my normal brands. (Chicago took me to Winn-Dixie -- yes, it really exists! this is actually the first time I have been there, though -- while I usually show at Whole Foods.)
I am sort of alarmed because my jar of preserves opened really easily, though. But it smells fine...
