I've had trouble getting a hold of Jill's character before, but I think she switches back and forth between despair and anger. The despair leads to her refusing to leave her bed, and the anger leads to her confronting Susan and backtalking Archenlander knights, because as far as she's concerned she's done a lot, lost a lot, why isn't that good enough? And that can go either way.
I like that you said that about Jill being more Narnian than the Pevensies, because I think that it's worth remembering that the Pevensies may be Narnian down to their blood and bone, but this isn't their Narnia. Their Narnia died more than a thousand years ago, and Jill has been living this Narnia for five years now.
